BlackVue Dashcam Install
Hi all,
I recently installed my Blackvue DR900x Plus in my vehicle and wanted to share. I'm here to answer any questions and open to feedback about my install. I didn't want to hardwire the battery pack to the fusebox, so I opted for the 12v port. |

Btw bmw drive recorder only works in case of an accident or manually record trigger and no parking recording. At the moment I don’t have any battery pack, still I do have parking recording and for now no issues with battery draining. Thou I have the switch programmed to when it reaches 12v to turn the camera off to prevent running out of battery. |

That install in the rear will only be for the MY2022 builds, MY2023 onwards doesn't have the 12v outlet in the rear.

As I waited an allocation, a buyer ahead of me didn't move forward with the purchase and the vehicle, equipped in the color and with every option I wanted, fell in my lap, otherwise I would have been in a 2023. There is a BMW CA in Canada with a youtube channel AllenBMWDurham who had a 2022 M240ix and traded it for a 2023 M240ix and he goes through the new car and talks about what's been removed that video is HERE |

You have to hardwire the battery pack if you want the dashcam battery to Fast Charge. Using the cigarette lighter to charge the battery pack takes much longer since it is not using fast charge / higher amperage.

I just picked up a DR970X BOX Plus and am going to hardwire a battery. I intended to go with the B-130X Power Magic Ultra Battery Pack; however, Blackvue informed me that they have discontinued it. They also said they are launching a "successor" this month. I've no idea about the specs but am holding out to see what they release.

Curious, if anyone is/has routed the front cam wire through the headliner--for those who are setting up the box and/or battery pack in the back. I got a little peek with an endscopic cam and it looks possible (perhaps easier to remove the rear light fixture cover and use some fish tape to pull the front cam wire through). If you can, any downside, e.g., rattles from the loose cable--maybe?

Do not run it above the doors due to the curtain airbags. Rear cams can affected the DAB radio but, if I’m not mistaken, USA is still living with AM lol. |
