BMW M Performance Selector Lever in Carbon Fiber for 2023 M240i?

Heya all, I am new to these forums but I did a quick search and found no previous mention of the following link here.

"BMW M Performance Selector Lever in Carbon Fiber"

I found it while browsing items for the 2023 M240i because I have one on order, and I was saddened to see they took the lever away from the 2022 version. Does anyone know if this is an option to add it back on essentially or if it's a mistake that made it's way over from the 2022 lineup of addons? Hopefully it's available as a simple swap!

Pretty sure this is a mistake. I don't think you can just put a gear shifter in the 23s with the switch.

I'd skip this mod as another forum member, rons e92, had a bad experience with it. Granted, may have been an installation error but to me it's not worth the risk.

And that was on a 22. The 23 doesn't have a shifter anymore.

Ah, my bad, I forgot about the 23 lever switch.

It may not be actually. If you go and try to find it for the 2022 model year it specifies its not available for that car, just the 2023.

Either way I think I am going to ask more about it. I'll try and find that thread to read up on too.

23 doesn't have a gear selector lever.

I've seen 7 ppl do the lever swap so far. 2 had a lot of issues. The other 5 didn't have issues at all. From what I can tell, the cable that connects the lever to the module is finicky and very easy to break. I think if you're very careful and take your time it can be done. Just know that parts, if you mess up the control module, are spendy and hard to obtain and unless you have BMW do it, you could just mess it up again. In my opinion, definitely not worth the DIY mod.

Unfortunately the 2023 models have iDrive 8, which looks like BMW stuck 2 ipads on the dash similar to Merc's el-cheapo approach - what all this means is the 2022 Carbon interior made for iDrive 7 won't fit on the iDrive 8 cars, but BMW will release a kit for it shortly I'm sure.

tbh idrive8 looks much more modern (esp the ui font/styling) than the outdated idrive7. so tired of these '22 owners with their karen passive aggresive posts

Lol, probably coming from someone who's stuck with id8. And it's not 'modern', it's more like rushed.

I wouldn't care if id8 was my only option, but preference is id7 due to dash integration. I got my order in just in time for the id7 cutoff. Id love id7 integration with id8 tech (as everyone else probably would)
