So 100% a parts shortage for the start of MY23. It's interesting that there will be a subset of 2023 230is that may be the only ones ever produced with the M trim.

Bigger picture, with the lack of dash ambient lighting in the 22's, I wonder if the G42 was supposed to come with iDrive 8 from launch, but it got pushed back a year because of supply. Similarly, I wonder what the trim offerings were actually supposed to be before the supply issues. 1/2 of the available console trims don't have matching dash options. I'm guessing they may only be available because they are the same parts for the 3 and 4 series. It will be interesting if a black diamond console trim that matches the M doors/dash is part of the 2024 options list.

Kind of a bummer but that’s where we are! My car was ordered and on the way before I even knew what it would look like lol. Not a fan of the gloss black trim with the aluminum but there will be carbon fiber kits and other stuff I’m sure. Maybe I’ll PPF it and keep it. Meh.

Yea so many delays, at this point I'm just happy to be close to the finish line.

No, iDrive 8 was always going to premiere on the i4/iX then trickle down. The puzzling thing was the G42 switch to iDrive 8, but that may be to make things simpler in Mexico as it also builds the G20.

Oh true, those did start as 22s. Makes sense to simplify to one IP (probably cheaper too) with G20s. Will be interesting if there is any update to the inside when the LCI comes, or if the iDrive 8 dash was penciled in to be that initially.

Could someone explain the configuration details, please? I do not understand how the first three bullet points under "As of 7/2022" differ?

If no "Illumination" was picked originally, instrument dash will be high gloss black?

If 4LN is chosen, get gloss black. However, in bullet 3, it states 4LN again as getting additional lighting? What is the difference?

If you picked the mesh the instrument panel will be graphite. Mesh is only available on the 230. If you picked anthracite the panel is gloss black. If you picked gloss black, the panel is also gloss black. All of those options come with the illuminated dots pattern. If you got the illuminated m trim on the doors, you get the illuminated M pattern on the instrument panel.

At the bottom of the pdf it says changes will be reflected on the online configurator in the next couple weeks so we’ll have to wait some more time i guess…

what about that black style anthracite trim we saw? (not the m lighting, but the trim itself) is this only possible with m240i? i dont see this in the pdf.

I think that is what they are picturing in bottom right box #2, just not high enough resolution picture. That gloss-ish black with the diamond pattern I would guess is specific to the M trim. Probably supposed to be 240i specific, but is being put on 230i M sport builds starting in October (based on the .pdf) because of parts shortage on option in box #1. It was added to my early November 230i build slot. It seems all M sport flavors of G42 will come with that trim on dash and doors until they can resupply the other illuminated option based on the *. It doesn't appear to be a center console option though, just door/dash as of that bulletin.

Thank you for some clarification. Please indulge me a little further.

The second bullet point lists 4LN resulting in Gloss Black. Then the third bullet point shows 4LN will get illumination feature (not M-Illumination. That one I understand). Or does the third mean you have selected all three options?

You can only select one option so it’s saying that all three of those options get the non-m illumination feature.

Hey everyone. Just had pics from my dealer in the UK.

I ordered the Aluminium Rhombicle Interior Trim - 4LN and my car has arrived with the Piano Black illuminated dash with just the Aluminium Rhombicle around the gear selector.

May be a silly question...How do you know it is illuminated and not just gloss black? My only time in the car, I did not check to see if it was illuminated as there were so much eye candy to take in!
