What do the guys that have been following the car for a year+ think? Obviously the main thread is going to get alot of hate...just like any new BMW design. Same reaction when the G42 was launched.

Overall, I like it...but I don't love it. At least from these leaks. This is normal and I think once we see the full launch on 10/12, we'll be alot happier with the final product.

Front end is exactly what we expected. Looks a little muted...almost like it needs that CF package to really pop. I still think it's a good looking front end. A lower angle picture would also help.
Side profile looks incomplete. There has to be some sort of grill on the fender. The rear fenders don't stand out as much certain photos show.
Rear end, well definitely not the prettiest. It really pushes you into getting a darker color. Hopefully other angles make it look a little less protrusive.

Very disappointed. Absolutely hate it on first look. I was looking forward to picking up an LCI but now I might just get something else. I'll revisit once LCI is out maybe they'll make enough changes for me.

I totally agree. Still planning to keep my #1 allocation spot and place an order. I'm hopeful and agree these are bad angles

Honestly I'm a huge BMW fanboy and my deposit is down

I think it looks ok from the back

But at this point pretty much no matter how ugly people think it is I'm still buying it no matter what

I am reserving to make a final judgment when I see the car in the flesh at Plant Spartanburg/Zentrum on the 14th.

I am still keeping my #1 spot for an allocation. At least for the time being.

I'm keeping my deposit and #1 spot. The Wife says to get a Cayman GTS instead. She doesn't like the rear bumper in that pic. I'm waiting for the official reveal. Plus wouldn't mind saving a few bucks.

A 718 GTS is probably the direction I will go if the G87 does not pan out. Allocations are extremely difficult to come by though and might not get one prior to EOP.

Yeah. It's a strange time in the car market. I could go used but really would like a BTO. If the M2 doesn't work out and if I miss the boat on the Cayman GTS maybe I'll get that electric cayman.

I'll be honest, at first look I was shocked. I thought it would have looked better, but I first saw it on my phone. When I got a chance to look at it on the laptop it looked better, but still didn't wow me. The problem is the shots are taken from a high vantage point which tends to skew the car. That said, an F87 from the same vantage looks better all around. Those that have seen it in person reassure me it looks better, and these pics are just not that good. We shall see in a few weeks. I'm also not a fan of the color, it's too light for my liking and isn't metallic so the car looks muted like you said.

Same boat as you guys. Still planning on getting the car but the door has now opened for other possibilities. The premier on 10/12 is going to be make it or break it.

If the M4 gets center employee discount this upcoming quarter, I may toss that idea around as well.

I like the front end a lot more than I thought and am a bit worried about the back but will wait until I at least see it in more pictures and colors or in person.
I think this color is definitely off the table for my order. It’s hard to tell, but I think it will be very close to the Subaru blue that is popular on the crosstrek.
My personal opinion is that the design is going to need something bolder to look good. I really want a color so if the confirmed colors are accurate and all that is available then I am thinking red.

Agreed. I do not think the exterior color is doing it any favors in the three photos provided.

Once again, this car is just a few details away from looking really good - dual halo headlights, vertical slats in kidney, and a rear bumper similar to g80. The vents in the headlights actually look worse than the regular 2 series lights. And Sadly, the tail lights aren't even that bad relative to all of these other things. Maybe it'll look good at a lower angle, and darker colors but I feel like black may be the only color this will look acceptable in. My guess is that I'll pull my deposit after the launch and hold hope for the G80 LCI.

I’m aiming for the CS (deposit down) so have some thinking time, need to spend time with it in person first and drive it too. But some of my initial excitement has dropped from seeing the leak pics.

I was planning on getting the G87 LCI, but if I still don't like the revised car I'm going to jump over to Porsche. My mind will be made up at that point.

To be honest, I was very much wowed by the F87 pics before I ever got to see one in person. The front I can very much live with, I was hoping the rear would look better with a more aggressive rear bumper with the taillights being really spread out wide. But it doesn't seem to help, and even the rear bumper has things I'm not sure about.

Having said all this, while I still don't absolutely love the G80, it just doesn't photograph well and it really does make more sense in person. Therefore, I will reserve my judgment when I go see it in person at the PC. Between ID8 and kind of underwhelming exterior, it's not super positive.

I'm also pretty sure Zandvoort Blue is not for me.

If I had to stick with BMW I'd get an all black M2 over an M4. I bet it'll look good in black, just like the color camo car looked good.

I actually really like it

I won't say it's perfect by any means, but it's way better than other designs BMW and a lot of other manufacturers have come up with lately. I've owned 1 BMW and there are only a handful I actually like, so it's definitely not a case of loving anything and everything that they put out. I've said that I'll probably never buy another one but S58 + 6MT + carbon buckets/roof sounds too good to me. I'm one of those "wait for LCI" people, but that's only because I prefer to do it right the first time and there are other cars that we just bought or are buying between now and then. By the LCI there could be something else that I'm interested in instead and I'm OK with that, but for now that'll be the plan.

I have a deposit down and my spot in line. I'm still on the fence and will at least wait until the official unveiling to make my decision. Even if this isn't final, I'll be going with either Brooklyn Gray or Toronto Red. I thought I wanted the blue nut I'm not liking it here.
