Love these guys, they're local and do a great job. Got everything I expected from the review, superb engine etc and a bargain for the performance. Still looks like a bashed crab though.

I like this car as a car, apart from some of the quirky looks, I just don't like it as a Corvette. That doesn't mean that I expect the Corvette to never change, I would just prefer that it not change significantly in the direction of exotic cars. I want my F/R V8 Corvette to look like a Corvette, sound like a Corvette, and be a bargain...as it has always been.

To me, making a Corvette mid-engine and giving it a flat-plane crank sound is like making a Lotus heavy, or a Bugatti spartan, or a Mustang/Camaro expensive, or a Honda hard to maintain. It just doesn't fit.

And with todays prices, even the bargain thing is out the window. I have a buddy in the car business that buys these at $20K over sticker only to resell them at $50K over sticker.

All I can say is that I'm glad my automotive stable is complete.

Hell of a car.

Saw a load of 8 vettes, cover sealed, rolling other direction yesterday. Selling the crap out of them, it seems.

With this said...
Every time I see a C8 I say No out loud. My eyes just can't make it work. Just can't.

I agree with you to a degree. I consider myself a Corvette guy. I've been a fan since I was a kid. I've owned a few including my all time favorite 2007 C6 Z06. I understand why they went mid-engine. It took the Corvette into another category as far as overall performance is concerned, but it also took it into other categories that I am not too thrilled with. One, the cost. It has gone up a lot overall. Corvettes were always known for their performance value. They were more accessible to the average guy. There were discounted on a regular basis and they were easily found on lots or ordered. Now, its impossible to find one at MSRP unless you go with the big name dealers and you wait a year. Two, everyone wants one. Not just Corvette guys. A lot of "outsiders" are buying them. A lot of social-media-gotta-have-it-now-because-I-need-likes-to-live crowd are buying them. I get that that is good for business and the survival of the Corvette for the future generations. Its just different now. Its pretty annoying and takes the fun out of it. I cant go order a Z06 because all the flippers and social media retards bought up all the allocations. Hell, I cant even go order a Stingray without waiting 1+years for it.

If the C8 didn't get the attention you described, it would've been a massive loss on GM's part. Dumping billions into a fairly limited production ICE sportscar in these times is an extremely risky bet.

Why don’t they manufacture more cars? The demand for C8 is huge!

they are manufacturing as many as they can. they make like 20-25k a year. They will probably continue making C8s into 2026 at least. there will be at least 100k+ C8s in existence by the end of the run if it keeps up.

I'm not what you'd call a Corvette guy, but I still have the Black Book from when I was a kid, and can rattle off 60's era stats like nobody's business. I always lusted after the '67 Vert that was parked (in 1969) behind a lady's house on a prominent road in town, only to sit there until 1988. I rode by bike by it all the time, probably from 1978 to 1988 when it was sold.

I had a small love affair with the 35th Anniversary edition (give me the Dymag wheels tho), and also the C6 Z06 (make mine Jetstream Blue).

I'll probably have one of the 3 someday, but this new car, regardless of GM's motivation and the performance-per-dollar, no thanks.

Anyway, show me your C6!

Love those C2 Corvettes! I no longer own the Z06, but I will look for a pic.

It was smart to do one last NA and end that with a bang with the highest hp v8 na in a production car. That record won’t be beat since everyone went hybrid and then eventually all EV.

This is why this car will be desired for decades. Great business move by GM.

Hopefully they can produce enough of them for everyone.

I found the pricing spreadsheet. It’ll be about $150k for a 3LZ convertible with several options if the price doesn’t change by the time the dealer gets around to me.

At that point, a VERY mildly used 991 GT3 is on the table......

Most of the 991.2 GT3s I've seen are upper 100s/low 200s. 992 GT3s are in the high 200s. You might be able to score a 991.1 GT3 under $150k and even get it CPO. Prices have probably softened from those numbers. I definitely think getting a 991 series GT3 would be a more raw/fun experience. While I'd love a 992 GT3 or a C8 Z06, my concern is how "perfect" they might be.
