Replacing hifi amp?

I believe my hifi amp has died. 2008 328i sedan. premium hifi sound system, no i-drive.

My car has no sound (no chimes or anything) and the headunit is completely dead. I have a non-idrive professional headunit.

My sat radio module died a few months I fixed with a bypass MOST loop...
however this time, with no power to my headunit and no sound, i have to think it is my amp?

What are the best options here?

Replace with a used amp? Where should I buy this?

I assume I will have to code this amp to the car which I have no idea how to do, so any help there is appreciated.

Any way to buy an aftermarket amp and have it run the sound system including bluetooth, door chimes, etc or an OEM replacement the best/only option?

If the Head Unit is truly dead or does not have power you need to fix that first.

You can get the Hi Fi amps cheap on Ebay (less than 100.00)no coding required its
and Analog Amp. Easy to replace there is only one Lever you have to
throw to disconnect it.

If you you want to upgrade to and aftermarket amp you can do that to
but you will have to spend some Bucks.

If you upgrade the amp you will get better sound but to get great sound you need
to replace all the front speakers.

Bluetooth and USB are not considered amp functions though there are a few that allow
this. (You would have to go direct from your phone for sourcing and control)

If there is no power to head unit and you see no display that sounds like a head unit problem.

There is a stereo sub forum here where a there is a lot more detail on this stuff.

Currently amp/dsp combo's are the thing such as a Audiotech/Fisher 86dsp or BMW7 there are many
other types.
Hi Fi is 6 channel amp that uses differential 5 volt outputs essentially reduced speaker outs .
That needs to be fixed first. There is a a fuse at the back of the Head Unit in addition to fuses in the cabin fuse
board. If the battery is low the IBS can turn off power to the Head Unit.

If you narrow it down to the amp, I've got a good HiFi amp you can have. Ship collect or pickup is fine.

But honestly, take the opportunity to upgrade the amp to JL/BavSound/Etc. Way better.

Thanks for the info

My headunit (no I drive) does not display anything… the little screen is completely blank
My vehicle makes no electronic sounds - no door chimes, no radio/cd etc

Does the amp power the headunit? I’m hoping it’s as simple as this and can replace my amp
Not sure how I can test this?

I have to imagine the headunit replacement would be much more expensive and would require some type of coding to work properly?
I’d l don’t care about my sat radio, I would like BT phone to work but not going to jump through hoops for it

No the amp does not power the head unit . Power comes from the 12 volt battery
the way it does in any car but it's not direct. I don't beileve there is car I have ever seen
that uses the amp to power the head unit .
If the Head unit does not light up either is is not getting power or is bad.

You need a wiring diagram and a cheap Harbor Freight multimeter.

If this is the 20-pin connector amp, it a very simple connection: +/- 12V power and MOST fiber optic. All the other pins go directly to the various 9 speaker lines (+/- for each; the two speakers on each of the front doors are connected in series and just one line goes to the amp).

So, there is no way the AMP is responsible for the head unit not powering up. A blown fuse could be responsible, however. The amp is also continuously powered, even when the car is off. There is a yellow LED inside the amp that is illuminated whenever the MOST connection is active.

Number 1 all attention should be shifted to the Head Unit if it's Dead.
Number 2 if the OP identified the system is Hi Fi there is no most connection
to the all analog Hi Fi amp and the Hi Fi system which only has 6 channels.
The Hi Fi amp has no status LED's
