My guess is they bump power to 473, the same as base M4 so that they can continue to offer manual. Offer the better seats as standard and other options as well. And then make more colors available along with individual paint.

Dont see major change from a M2 to a M2C with the G Series.
Last time u got a S55 instead of a N55.
This time i only see a slight bump in power, carbon roof standard and a bit more options like colours. All things that u can easily modify yourself instead of waiting 2 years

Only thing they really can do is upgrading it with a M xDrive

I was thinking the same, but then it dawned on me that may not make much sense. If they just bump it 20hp but the torque stays at 406 lb-ft it won't feel that much faster as that power will all be on the top end. The M3/4c for instance are boosted to 479 lb-ft of torque and 503hp. That added 73 lb-ft of torque makes a massive difference.

So they could just bump it 20hp, offer MT and call it a day. Or they can also do something like give it 481hp with 479 lb-ft of torque. In that case it definitely won't get a MT. Stay tuned.

It makes sense and that likely supports the leaked xDrive doc. As others have mentioned, no reason to wait if you're wanting the manual transmission.

Interesting… Is it confirmed that base M2 will have 406 lb ft torque? And is that the torque limit bmw claims for the manual?

The base M3/4 S58 has 406 lb-ft and the M3/4 Competition S58T has 479 lb-ft. When they 'detuned' the S55 in the F87 M2c it didn't lose any torque, just hp. I'm 99% confident the base G87 will have 406 lb-ft and 453hp. We'll know for sure in a few more days.

Bimmerpost front page is undefeated; they posted a story several weeks ago about an xDrive M2 in BMW's system. It's happening.

I will not be waiting, either. Gonna pick up the RWD ASAP and enjoy until the xDrive car hits.

Hmm.. was also rumoured that we would see both M2 base and comp at the launch (and that the different camo colours were potenially indicative of the different models) but we'll know soon enough..

Me neither. For me it is certainly not worth waiting for, especially if we learn that it can only be had with an automatic. I have zero interest in a 8 speed auto just to gain maybe 20-25 additional bhp? It will most certainly be lower than the G80/G82 competition as well.

I believe since the m3 C and m4 C are auto only this is extremely likley. Makes sense since they are transitioning away from ICE manual will go first.
