I finally got my 392 Wrangler Extreme Recon about 3 weeks ago and this is easily one of the best and most fun cars I've ever had (including exotics), and I've gone through a lot of cars. Anyone looking for one "do it all" car, look no further. One of the best sounding stock exhausts I've ever heard, incredible power for a big heavy SUV, no turbo lag (obv), the one touch power top is awesome, solid sound system, and you can drive it literally anywhere. The ride height makes you feel like king of the road with the lift and 35" tires. Wranglers also have one of the biggest modding communities too so plenty of options to customize, though I'll probably leave it mostly stock.

I tend to go through cars every 12-18 months and get something else but I seriously think I might keep this one for a long, long time. An 8-year 85k mile warranty was only $1200 too. I just paid $460 for a gas cap (lol) on my Aston Martin. Will be surprised if these things are ever worth less than ~$65-70k even with high mileage. Yes, the gas mileage is awful (12mpg over the first 1000 miles) but you've got to pay to play.

Anyone making these "what daily should I buy" or "what SUV should I get" should seriously look at this.

I've been a Jeep fan for as long as I can remember. I've had 3 wranglers, but they cost so damn much to drive I couldn't keep em as a daily. Lately I've been tossing around the idea of a Gladiator diesel, but I can't bring myself to pay that pricetag for something I'm then going to spend another 20k to replace suspension, bumpers, etc and take it on trails to get banged up.

Not sure what you mean by they cost so much to drive? Gas mileage sucks, yes, but it has a 5-year/60k powertrain warranty. I got my 392 for $75k on what turned out to be an $89k MSRP ($84k when I ordered). It's probably worth around $100k currently with the Extreme Recon package being constricted and the possibility that there are no 2024 model 392's. I could probably drive it 2-3 years and sell it for what I paid. When I bought my 2018 V6 Wrangler I paid $34k for it, drove it 3 years and 25k miles and sold it for $37.5k. That was during the height of pandemic pricing but still, amazing resale value on Wranglers in general if you get a good discount up front.

The 392 with XR package is offroad-ready for the vast majority of people that aren't doing anything crazy and all covered by warranty which is great, don't have to worry about spending $20k aftermarket and having no warranty or voiding factory warranty. I promise you one drive in a 392 will make you want one, it's fucking awesome.

Last year I got her the 4XE Wrangler and she's been really happy with it. We both commute about 80 miles daily and she's been getting about 28 mpg. She can go about 20 miles on a full charge.

I almost got a 4xe because the lease deals were so good but I knew I'd regret not getting the 392 so I just went for it despite the much higher cost. Worth every penny. The 4xe was pretty nice when I drove it though, surprisingly quick compared to the V6 I had.

Yes mileage. Granted my last Wrangler was a TJ with the 4.0, but with 33's I saw 15mpg on a good day. Thats the biggest reason I'd want a diesel, better fuel economy, and bonus pulling capability. And even if I didnt have to put money into suspension and such, thats still a $70k+ (Rubicon) vehicle for taking out in the sticks for sometimes weeks on end. The whole reason I want a Gladiator is to build a good overland truck where I can hide a RTT and gear behind the cab and out of the wind, and get out on long off-road trips. I just can't swallow paying that for something to get beat up. Very capable vehicles, but the increase in their popularity over the years has skyrocketed their prices.

Yes, it's really quick on hybrid since it uses the 4 cylinder engine and electric motor at same time. But just on electric it's really heavy. We also got a $7K tax rebate for being an EV.

The Rubicon 4xe for ~$425/month last year with $0 out of pocket on a lease was a stupidly good deal and I was real close to doing that, but knew I'd regret not getting the 392 if I did. If the 392 didn't exist I would have done that for sure. I think they'd be around $500-650/month now with current rates, still a good deal for a $65k car but not the smoking deal that it was when they first came out.

If the Raptor had a V8 I'd be interested but the Hemi engine is just so damn good in the Wrangler that it's hard to see the Bronco being any better even with a V8. I still can't believe they even made this thing.

Thanks. Originally ordered white but switched it to Gobi (wasn’t available when I originally ordered). There’s only 13 of the Gobi’s with XR package in existence and it probably won’t come back. The only way to get an XR Gobi was to change an existing order that hadn’t been built yet and already had XR package included. The XR package was on constriction the whole time Gobi was available.

My boss has one. Just riding to lunch and back in it sucked. But after all your posts about it in the other thread about how every vehicle needs a V8, I'm guessing you bought a special model that fellates you while driving.

The 392 rides great, much better than the regular JL. I had a V6 JL before this and the difference is almost night and day. You seem really butt hurt over me saying every car needs a V8, lol.

On the value today sure. But jeeps hold their value very well. They aren’t porsche level but they are up there and typically stronger than BMW; so it’s hard to say it’s not a decent buy if he find it fun.
