Based on previous post on who prefers which.
Primarily from a design perspective. Last edited by Yoshuey; 10-13-2022 at 04:25 AM.. |

F87 had a femininity to it that never jived with me(I did own one).
I like my cars to look tough/brutal rather than cute/pretty. |

Exterior... certainly the F87CS... but the differentials between the interior is greater in favor of the G87, so I'd likely go that route... for a daily at least.
If it was a weekend, track car, project car, etc., that would be different.

The better poll would be the over/under on when the F87 people will head back to their forum and stop crapping up this one?

Honestly, without seeing the cars side by side in real life, it's all speculation at this point. Seeing pictures of a car in isolation is one thing but seeing it in real life, where you can see the body panels depth, different angles, how some things compare to others, that's really when you can reserve judgement. Perfect example is the F87, I didn't think it looked good in pictures, then I saw one in the flesh and was blown away. Somewhat same with the G82, I test drove one and thought in isolation that it was indeed ugly but not as bad as the pictures. Put it side by side with my F87C and it was clear that the F87 looked much better.

Let’s be honest here. The G87 is going to be a great M car. The driving experience will overcome all the complaints about the exterior from the F87 club.
Do I have current plans to buy one. No. Do I think my M2 is better. No. My M2 only has 17K miles. I am in no hurry to get rid of it.

Things I wish the g87 had… a traditional mechanical gauges for the rev/ speedo and oil. I think bar that the new m2 does look pretty badass… especially the the m performance parts. Almost a GT3 R/S vibe.

As I said in another post, the G87 moves the ball forward. It will perform better (just watch any of the dozen or so driving reviews of the 2 prototypes from this summer). It has updated, modern technology. It has a dramatically better interior and real M seats. It has a modern -- adaptive -- suspension and an adjustable differential. It has perhaps the best M engine ever. It comes with carbon fiber roof.
I happily own an F87. It's wonderful and fabulous. But from what I've read and watched, the G87 takes a major leap forward. Just watch the videos first, and then tell me I'm wrong. ( I'm certain that some of you will, lol). So, I will be making my choice: G87. |

All of the external design elements of the G87 will have lovers and haters. It's subjective. It's an M2, so it's gonna be cool regardless. |

The quality of materials inside the F87 were what kept me away for the most part. Well, my first consideration was an OG, so seats were a factor as well. I went to the F80 originally even though I really wanted the M2. I could only even stand an F80 when it had full leather so I knew I'd grow to hate the F87 quickly using it for daily duties. I had a chance to grab an F87CS below MSRP (after the dealer fixed some cosmetic damage during transit from a strap that came loose on an open carrier)... that was close... but the flagship cash on the 8 won out for me at the time.
