M5 Comp on its way!
Hey all. Been lurking around the boards on and off for a while, but I can post good news now!
I went into my local dealer and started the process back in first week of May... August 9th, CA called and said they finally received an allocation for a 2023, so I went in that night and was able to enter my order in the system. Was given a Production date of Week 38. Fast forward to August 29th, and she emails me and says, "Congrats! your car entered production!" Nice! wait... that's 3 weeks early! I immediately log into the tracker site and sure enough, I've got a Production number assigned and a VIN, and it's sitting on the second bubble, "Scheduled for Production". Great! I'll check the tracker every few days or so to see how it's going. Well, what's even more impressive than starting production 3 weeks early is I checked the tracker a couple days later and its already in "Exterior Body Assembly Begins". I check it a couple days later and it shoots past "Paint Booth" and "Entering Assembly Line" and day later it passes a couple more and is sitting in "Final Assembly". When it hits "Ready for Transport" a total of only 10 days had passed! I'm pretty pumped, but also now looking at the next blue bubbles I see and I figure this is where I'll run into delays if there are any. From what I've read some people saw there's sit in the "At Port" for weeks and some even 2-3 months. I think i read a thread a while back someone was at the 3 month mark and was gonna cancel their order. It sat on "Awaiting Carrier Assignment" for about 5-7 days and then Dispatched from Factory to "At the Port" in a couple more. Its been sitting on the 'At the Port' for 10 days or so now. Took a trip to the 'In Transit' stage for a day or two and then went backwards to 'At the port' again. So, does 'At the Port' mean it's just sitting there and really not on a boat until it hits 'In Transit'? Or is In Transit after its released from port in the US and on the way to the Dealership? Regardless, I'm super happy it went into production early and then flew through the production process so quick. Was hoping to get to drive it a little bit before winter sets in here in Minnesota, but if it doesn't work out I guess I'll sit in it in the garage and make engine sounds myself!! Thanks for reading! And congrats to the other new owners I'm seeing in the recent threads! Last edited by mpls_M5C; 10-14-2022 at 07:11 PM.. Reason: spelling/grammar |

You can check with your CA but it sounds like you are on 'Auto Energy'. My M5C is on the 'Guardian Leader' which is arriving a few days after cars that started on 'Auto Energy'
If your car started on 'Auto Energy', you are part of a very unique shipping process. https://g80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1954095 is the primary thread that can be followed with details. To summarize, it sounds like there were going to be extreme delays unless special measures were taken. Normally trips from Germany to the US are a single boat to either West or East coast ports depending on the final destination. In this case cars, regardless of west/east coast destinations, were put on 'Auto Energy' which only travels around Europe. The cars were dropped off in Spain and transported over to 'Sebring' which is now headed to Port Hueneme (near LA). Arrival has been delayed a few days and the latest ETA is Oct 23rd. VPC won't be open that day so likely it will go to VPC on the 24th. From there your car will be transported, which may be an unusually land transport time if you would normally have had your car arrive on the East coast. BMWs tracking system isn't setup to handle multiple boat scenarios like this so they only show the first boat 'Auto Energy'. While there are delays, be considered lucky you made it on the boat The day you saw your car at 'Port' sounds like it aligns with when the boat was considered 'At Port' in Panama. https://www.vesselfinder.com/vessels/details/9434321 https://www.portofhueneme.org/vessel/sebring/ is the schedule for when the boat is scheduled to arrive (was the 21st, then 22nd and now the 23rd). You can see the boat real time https://www.marinetraffic.com/en/ais...415593/zoom:10 Last edited by Hachima; 10-20-2022 at 07:23 PM.. |

Thanks Hachima. I was using marinetraffic but it doesn't show all the stops. Now at least I can see it has one more prior to Brunswick. Hopefully it won't take too long to get processed. The wait is killing me. First M car.

Also awaiting my first M car, and also just found out I’m on the same ship! Then I’ll just have to wait for ground transport to Tennessee!

There's a lot of vpcs, just depends where your car is going honestly. But a lot of ships go to brunswick first, so that SC is the last stop, so they pick up the suvs to ship overseas. Sort of how one of the first stops after Germany is the UK to pick up minis for the us and drop off some bmws.

My tracking status updated to At the port again, which tracks with our ship getting to Brunswick. Shouldn’t be too long now! To SC then to the final destination!

Now Genius says that it is going directly to the performance center in Spartanburg instead of Charlston then Spartanburg. Fingers crossed that is the case.

My salesperson told me they’re limited/rigid on dates. I don’t have a lot of flexibility in my schedule so I’m getting it delivered to my dealer, but I’d still love to visit the performance center at some point.

Delivery time from Galveston to Brunswick?
Hey guys, hoping you can help. I am waiting for my M5comp that is on a train from galveston to Brunswick, left about 1 week ago on a train as per BMW genius but no arrival date was noted, any idea from personal experience? I currently have a 2023 m3comp that I am trading in. Thanks for the help
