Loud air whooshing sound after putting car to stock

I had my E92 N54 put to stock for smog and removed the MHD tune. Only thing left still on the car is the VRSF FMIC. Now there is a loud whooshing sound of air moving through the engine when at mid to high rpm range, and a sort of whistle type sound when letting off the throttle at high rpm. There were downpipes, intake, charge pipe, bov, and BMS vacuum adapter that all were removed. Any idea what the sound could be? My mechanic swears he put everything back correctly and tightly. The car is not throwing any codes currently. Is there any way the FMIC could be making this sound and I just never noticed it because the intake and DPs drowned it out?
