Auto headlamps and fog

I normally run with auto headlights activated. The other day driving in fairly heavy fog i realized the headlights were not activated (all the vehicles i met on the expressway had em on). I realized they are not very sensitive to fog conditions. Checked the manual, and sure enough it actually mentions that the auto headlight feature is not able to detect fog....so i just need to make sure i do not rely on the auto feature for fog or unusually hazy conditions. (this perhaps is "normal" for auto headlamp tech but this is the first car I've had with it so i was unaware).
no biggie, i just thought i would mention it.

As the seasons are changing, I just started manually turning on my lights in the morning. It's a big pet peeve of mine to hate on cars w/ just their daytime running lights on. I don't ever want to be that guy.

This is great info for sure. Thanks for the heads up.
