USB music

I have tried two different USB memory sticks, each formatted FAT 32 with FLAC audio files in two different USB sockets in my iX3.

Each time I insert either of them I can see the appropriate name in the option list in Media to play USB. There is a delay as the car reads the contents and I get a list of all the music files as expected with search options such as by title or album.

HOWEVER, after a few minutes of track playing successfully, the search option greys out and although the car can still see the USB stick, it claims that there are no audio files on it, which I know to be a false message.

I have tried reinserting several times and the fault continues.

Anybody seen this, or got a fix?

Have you tried other audio formats? FLAC can be hit and miss with different systems.

I have had a thumbnail USB stick for music in my i3 and, for the last year, in the iX3 without problems. The main difference being that despite being a HiFi buff and always listening to vinyl, high res or lossless on my stereo set-up I just use Exporter for iTunes on Mac to convert the playlists I choose to have in the car to 320 MP3s as I think with road noise, etc, you can never really experience lossless in a car. As MP3 it sounds fine and never misses a beat. Try it and see I'd say.

Good idea, but How do I do that?
The USB has 300 GB of data.
How big is the in-car memory?

I suspect the size of the USB data may be the problem - 300 GB
There may be a limit but I don't know what that is.

That could be the problem. The standards for FAT32 limit it to 32GB partition size. Whilst it is possible to exceed that limit, it is not recommended for compatibility.

But the use of FLAC can also be a problem.
