2008 328i Waterpump fuse keeps blowing.
I replaced my water pump yesterday and did the bleed cycle it worked just fine. This morning I did the bleed cycle again and it worked fine again. Today I went out for a drive and the car overheated again. So I check the fuse in the glovebox and it was blown I replace it with the same 40a fuse and it blew again. I replaced the fuse one more time and it blew in like 5 seconds and the car was not even on or running. I think I have a short somewhere. Has anyone had this issue before I am so sick of this and I do not want to have to take it to the mechanic. Thanks

You can disconnect the water pump and check the wires in the connector for a short to ground. gbalthrop has a nice diagram on there you can refer to in post #6 here:
https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1766136 If you disconnect the connector and the fuse still blows, then wires #1 and #2 (the power wires) likely shorted to ground. #4 brown is ground, and #3 purple is the control signal. |
