Knocking noise on my 2009 E92 320i
Hey Everyone and thank you in advance for any help you offer
New to the forum and bought my wife a wee run-around - lovely spec as it's the highline and she loves it! When we bought it the previous owner said that the Vanos was playing up, but it drove OK and it's only got 70k on it, so we took the gamble. I'm far from a mechanic but I enjoy tinkering about and I can follow instructions, so I did the old Vanos solenoid clean up which immediately solved the problem - ran super smooth, no mad noises and I was delighted. A couple of hundred miles later the noise came back. I've not cleaned the two Vanos filters deeper in the engine, but got an oil and filter change yesterday and the oil was dirty and the filter a bit clogged (previous oil change was 7k, 18 months ago). This morning, the knocking noise is back - it's definitely intermittent, sometimes quiet as a mouse, sometimes like this (this is probably as loud as I've heard it). Any ideas? Sorry, video won't embed.. Code:

Hello, i bet my shoes you have damaged-cracked the plastic guides on your timing chain and chain is loosen and biting the engine inner-space from inside. I recommend to no more drive the car, because damaged plastic parts can clogged oil sump and engine less the oil pressure. Its critically dangerous for high sensible oil pump. You need to remove oil pan, clean it and replace the whole timing chain set. Very common fault on n43, n46, etc.

Hi mate. Can you watch the video and tell me if yours sounds like that when accelerating? I think it’s my chain? |
