Wireless charging… so hot right now
I picked my 240 up on Saturday and drove ~600 or so miles back home. Truly an awesome car! But I’d say about 10 min into my 9 hour trip I noticed my phone was pretty hot from the wireless charging. I read that others had a similar problem before I selected the option but I bought the charging anyways at the reduced price of $200 for ‘23s just to give it a shot. I’d love to be able to just throw my phone in the cubby and there’s a USB A in the perfect spot there… has anyone found a diff wireless charging pad that works/fits well? I have an iPhone 12 (I think?). |

Same. The $500 cost made it an immediate no, and then all of the negative feedback like it hardly charges, phone overheats, I was glad I didn't buy it. I like that I can use that area just to store my phone while I drive without having to worry about the phone overheating.

Right, but I think you can turn the pad off. I use a wireless charger every night and at worst it gets a little warm. Only problem is it wouldn't fit very well in the cubby. You like to use the cubby to store your phone, but wouldn't it be even better if you stored it AND it charged?? Surely someone has a solution here.

I don't have the wireless charging on mine because of the heat issues I read about, so I can definitely use that slot when driving alone.
Random aside - what sort of bottles/cups fit in the center console? I'm just realizing that my daily iced coffee might not fit so well in there... if I have to convert to a mug so be it, but I'd rather know now than looking like a jackass the first time I run through the drivethru lol.

I don't know about a long reach, I just extend my arm. I've tried storing my phone in the wireless charging spot and found it a pain to do, maybe because my phone is nearly the size of the pad. This proves really challenging if there's a drink in the way.

Disable the BMW pad and toss one of these in the same bay?

Dumb question but if my car has wireless charging and I put in a phone that doesn’t have wireless charging or let’s say use that space to hold a microfiber towel, the charger won’t turn on right??

I have been very happy with this. No overheating issues and still allows the smartphone based digital key to be used.
Not labeled as G42 compatible but it fits perfectly. https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256802518891205.html |

That looks awfully nifty... Since it seems to fit in an i4, I imagine it would fit the 2023 2-series w/ iDrive 8, too?
