Red Start/Stop Buttons - Comparison Amazon vs. AliExpress
Hey all...
Just for everyones info. I ordered both the main Amazon button that someone posted on these forums and also the AliExpress button. Couple major differences. Does anyone know what the OEM button in the G80 looks/feels like? The AliExpress button on glossy, on the left in the photos. (https://www.aliexpress.us/item/32568...andl_shipto=US) The Amazon button is matte, on the right. (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09P1J1HGY...roduct_details) The red of the Amazon button is not as dark and vibrant as the AliExpress. I like the quality of gloss and red of the AliExpress button, but the build quality of the Amazon one seems more "OEM"... The Amazon one did arrive damaged and is double the price. What is everyones thoughts? I was really hoping we can get a real red button from BMW and just order it and be done. Last edited by CaliGuy; 11-14-2022 at 07:44 AM.. |

I like the matte red finish, it's similar to the matte silver surrounding and matte black controls on the same panel. Then there's the build quality - the Amazon button feels much higher quality. I broke an arm on the Aliexpress one when I was removing it. Then there's the font style and font spacing, the Amazon button is nearly identical to OEM. In the above pic, the Amazon red looks closer to tacora red for those who have it.
I'm 100% happy with the Amazon button over sourcing an OEM red button for probably $50-$100. |

I think it's the lighting, it's not pink at all, mine isn't at least. Not sure if he bought the same one as me, but the underside looks as if he did.

For info, I took both buttons to the BMW dealer and looked at them next to a OEM M4 Red Button...
The oem ones are like a Red Metallic. It is not as glossy as the AliExpress button, but not as matte as the amazon button. LOL! |

For the 2 times I did a swap, I clean the surface of the button with alcohol then I melt the tip of a hot glue stick with a lighter then stick it dead center on the button to be removed. Allow a few minutes for the glue to fully dry then lift straight up in a fast/strong motion.

Some people have used a thin pry tool to pop it off. Seems like it would damage it. |

Cool, I'm sure the guy selling them on Amazon bought them from China, too. Can you post some pics of the top and underside? How much was it?
At $15 with prime delivery, it has to be free or close to it for me to buy that and wait 2 weeks for it over going with the Amazon one. I just checked my Amazon listing and it doesn't appear to be available anymore |

Is there a part number for a BMW genuine OEM red start button replacement? Or a button that’s solid colored plastic throughout, (not painted). Durability for such a high touch point is important.

No OEM part number. From my research, they sell the whole piece with all the buttons.
