Installation Guide | IND | Acexxon G42 2-Series M-Sport Rear Reflector Insert Set

Changing reflectors are always among the first additions made by any owner of a modern BMW. Thanks to the U.S. DOT, the unsightly red reflectors installed in cars bound for North America continue to break the smooth lines of BMW bumpers.

While it appears BMW is trying to mitigate how much reflectors stick out like a sore thumb by now slightly tinting them on the various chassis, IND continues to provide painted & Acexxon reflectors for those that want to eliminate the unsightly red rear reflectors.

Many enthusiasts enjoy installing their own Acexxon reflectors, so we’ve created this installation DIY to help.

Tools needed:
T20 Torx Driver
8mm Socket
1/4" Drive Rachet
Painters Tape (Optional)
Pliers (Optional)

NOTE: Removing the wheels can aid in installation of these rear reflector inserts, but it is not required.

Step 1:
Begin by removing the upper T20 torx screw that fastens the bumper cover to the bumper cover bracket.

Step 2:
Remove 8mm fasteners found inside of the wheel well & under the bumper cover.

Step 3:
Remove the upper bumper cover from the bumper cover using outward force. Small tabs hold the bumper cover on the vehicle.

Step 4: Reach behind the bumper cover to squeeze the prongs of the OEM red reflector that you intend to replace. The mounting clips are oriented vertically. Start at the top or the bottom, just not in the middle. Small pliers can aid to squeeze the clips as well.

Step 5: Remove OEM reflector.

Step 6: Clip Acexxon rear reflector insert into the bumper cover.

Just a heads up for those with ZTK arches: there are tabs/teeth on the quarter panel arch molding that lock into the bumper arch molding. Was a real pain in the ass to work the teeth back into the slot on the bumper section. Otherwise great directions and product as always!

EDIT: the bolts were all 10MM on my 2023

I installed mine last weekend on a 23 with ZTK.
I taped the surrounding area and drilled out the clips through the face of the reflector then pried them out. They were going in the garbage anyway

Funny, as I was going to do that on the other side after realizing the issue. I had replaced them on my M4 using IND's method, so I didn't think much of until I had it apart.
