BMW NA is not partaking in the 2022 LA auto show.
2022 LA Auto Show Manufacturing list: https://laautoshow.com/automotive-brands/ Edit, BMW NA like several other automotive manufacturers have pretty much dropped out of the auto show scene as they have determined it a financial waste. Last edited by T_U_D; 11-19-2022 at 11:17 AM.. |

Sad, I’m considering heading over and seeing the M2 was one of my hopes.
I think they underestimate the value of these shows; takes a lot of touches from marketing and advertising in different ways and via different channels to convert a customer. Part of developing and strengthening my affinity for the brand was seeing and experiencing these cars at the shows. YouTube and social media don’t replace seeing and sitting in them in real life. Anyone who pays to go see cars is a possible high-value customer and evangelist; auto show traffic is probably as high quality an audience as it gets. Short-sighted move, IMO. |

Many automotive manufacturers are moving towards having displays and unveilings at events like Amelia Island and Pebble Beach. BTW, Studies have previously revealed that auto shows do not tend to generate a lot of revenue later on at dealerships. This was prior to Covid. I would suspect Covid has only further pushed remaining manufactures to bail out. |

I think auto shows in general cater to people who generally are not in the demographic for luxury cars, but otherwise use the opportunity to sit in them. I wouldn't think there are many purchasers who buy a car on whim after just seeing it at an auto show.

I don’t think it’s about getting people to buy “on a whim”. Enthusiasts come in well-educated about the products to see cars in person that are almost never actually at dealerships. Most are not in a position to buy, but they absolutely may be in the future, and are still valuable in the short term as word-of-mouth vectors. And, for qualified buyers, it’s another high-quality touch point in a lengthy sales cycle. You cannot dismiss a channel where people literally pay to see your marketing. The real issue is that today’s brand marketer is addicted to data and hard-mapped customer journeys and anything without conversion attribution as good as Google Ads or Facebook Ads is out of vogue. They will be back. |

From an IT perspective, a company I worked for in the past attended trade shows sporadically over the years, with the conclusion that the years we attended had no influence on sales volume and leads generated vs the years we didn't attend, just that we had an extra expense the years we paid for show booths. The main benefit was networking with peers, but that could be done at conferences where we didn't have any booth presence. |

Bob Smith told me it was gonna be a press car eventually once it gets plates! Looked absolutely stunning in person and way better than the official pictures…

I will be VERY surprised if they send a car to market with mismatched leather. Even if this one is mismatched, it's pre-production. But I sure as hell couldn't detect any difference from that tiny clip.

T_U_D Need your honest opinion. How does the blue look in person? Do you think it will age well and become a well accepted BMW color? I was leaning that way but then thought a bit too baby blue and moved to Motorsport white but seeing your video has me second guessing. I like get cars in their exclusive colors. 1M is VO, M2CS is blue. Thoughts please

Auto shows could help people narrow down their choices, especially now that it's hard to find many cars in inventory at all. It's also always nice to see halo or prototype cars you'd normally never get to see either.
