So I picked up my new M240i last week. Drove it 6km to a detailing shop to get a full PPF done and picked up the car yesterday again. The detailing shop phoned me the day they got the car and said there were dents on the boot spoiler, but I wasn't quite sure what they were talking about because the car looked perfect when I picked it up.
This morning after have a good look in the sunlight for the first time, you can clearly see the dents are underneath where the OEM spoiler would have been. The new Carbon spoiler now fitted sits further back and has exposed these dents. Has anyone else who has done a similar modification seen these kind of dents and managed to get them fixed by BMW? This first picture is from a video I took of the car when I dropped it off at the detailing shop. The second one is a pic with the new spoiler fitted. |

Those dents were caused by the shop that installed the new carbon fiber spoiler. They probably just pried from there to get the OEM small spoiler off instead of using fishing line or floss to cut through the double sided tape. No way the trunk was dented like that from the factory.
Demand the shop pay for a good PDR (paint less dent repair) guy to fix the dents. |

It was 100% them and they now it. Of course they don’t use hard tools they use nylon tools which isn’t correct. You need to use string or floss to cut through the double sided tape, NOT pry it off with a tool. You can ask them how they removed the stock spoiler to confirm. Impossible the dents were under there from the factory.

Curious which spoiler you ended up installing? Any more pics to show how the spoiler looks mounted further back? I like the way it blends with the curve at the end of the trunk. Wondering how it blends with the trunk from the back. Thx.

Thanks for the pics. Love that side profile how it flows with the curve of the trunk.
Yes, sucks about the dents. IMO no one offers to fix anything for free unless they did it themselves but hopefully they will make it look as if it never happened. Nice car. Enjoy. |

Now that you mention it... besides the i missing, is my eyes playing tricks on me or is the badging ever so slightly tilted with the left side of the badging higher than the right?? And a little too far to the right compared to stock?

They’ve made quite a mess of the m240i badge. Spacing and positioning is all wrong. Imagine they have just installed each letter individually and then realised there wasn’t enough room for the I so left it off.

This is probably true. I just installed mine a couple of hours ago, but they must have pulled the front plastic off first and not knowing you're suppose to pull the back, then align to the spot and once you have it in place, pull the front plastic.

Who the hell butchered this job SO badly? Some strip mall tint/stereo installer/dispensary in downtown Philly?? I’ve never seen worse work in my life.
