My BMW Data
So I discovered when toying around with all the pages on iDrive 8 you can view your horsepower, torque, psi and temp in real time. My question is, how exactly is it feeding this information? I'm curious if you add a tune and a few horsepower increasing bolt ons if it will translate accurate readouts on this screen?

Dunno how those are displayed in i8 but with my i7 the bar graphs are so crude and at a scale that unless you had significant changes in HP or Toque it would not be noticeable.
Having said that if the i8 display is more precise and a finer scale, then likely to show the difference. ANd back to your original question.. how does it get this info? dunno if mods differences would factor in, even if it does factor in, small increases would not be noticeable on i7 display. |

I am still getting used to idrive etc and trying to wade through the manual..
How do you get it out to display that info? I presume you have to be in sports mode first? |

I know if you add a JB+ the PSI increase will not be reflected on the screen because the JB+ and ECU are not calibrated to each other. I assume the JB4 is the same.

Won't type all this in but here's a link that based on my memory covers it: https://obdcon.sourceforge.net/2010/...ed-load-value/ Air flow is part of the formula so any mods which increase power have to increase air flow and thus the calculated load will reflect this provided the increase in power is above the noise level... A number of my cars have had and have HP/torque displays. They are not really good enough to "tune" with but are just for show. A real tune I think would require a 4 gas analyzer (CO, CO2, HC and O2) and a dyno... |
