The apocalypse is upon us... new Prius
I can't believe that I actually like the look of the new Prius. Toyota could be on to something with this platform. There's a potential for some juiced models with more aggressive bodies.

I’m in the PNW doing the DirtFish Rally School and my Turo is a RAV4 Hybrid and I really like this thing. Toyota has done a helluva job with the current crop of hybrids.

I have to admit, it looks pretty good. Much more economical than a $100K EV.
I had the Lexus Prius (CT 200h) for a couple years, and it was a really good daily. Not sure if they still have that regen whine, that was the biggest gripe I had with the Lexus hybrid. At this point, it has some real competition with the Ioniq5 and a couple other good EVs that are relatively affordable. |

I never thought I'd see the day. But I do agree. I'm currently trying to convince my wife to let me replace her CX-5 with one.

Yeah but unlike a Tesla it’s not made by people who clearly hate to make cars.
So many Teslas around here with so many issues and even the ones that are not frequently broken have panel gaps from 70s Chrysler products. No thanks. I cancelled an order on a model X years ago based on the advice of a neighbor. When I went to buy a Tesla charger later ( it’s a good charger for a good price ) I discovered I was blacklisted by Tesla and had to have my wife order it. Fuck you elon. |

I agree there is no doubt the quality of it will blow Tesla out of the water.
As someone who lives in a place with cold winters, an electric car as they currently function is nothing more than a useless novelty. Aroundelway for you to get blacklisted by Tesla is ridiculously short sighted. I’d bet you will get the last laugh as his company IMHO is going down now that the big guys are full on pressing with their far superior products and execution capabilities. |

Love BMW….However, if someone puts a gun to my head and tells me “I must buy an EV!”…..it’s gonna be a Porsche Taycan as of right now. Nothing else is remotely interesting or provides the level of quality I’d want.

Electric cars are appliances. It’s what the masses want. Something efficient that gets them from a to b. They don’t care about driving. Electric cars are very good for this. If you are the type of person that’s into appliances then it’s your era. Pop the corks. Or maybe the toast.

Agreed. I enjoy electrics and think they have a place in our future automotive ecosystem. We have had a leaf around for a few years as a city car. Everyone loves it, it is a perfect city car. In fact it probably accounts for 90% of our driven miles as a family and is pretty much all my wife will drive anymore. I think I paid around 13k after tax incentives and Nissan discounts, and while those deals are no longer on the table the exposure has been enough to make my wife insist we get another electric with more space and range.
We drive it year round in Denver, I've put a set of tires on it and filled up the wiper fluid here and there and that's it in 6.5 years. |

Better these than the endless parade of shitty diesel SUVs that 80% of people seem to use to ruin your day. Maybe one day self driving will actually help them to actually drive at the correct speed limit instead of 20 km/h below and let them just use their phone legally when driving rather than being dangerously distracted. I think they will be a long term win for people like us that like actual cars. |
