M Heritage Badging Installation

Does anyone have a video of them swapping out the standard hood and trunk lid badging for the 50 Years M Heritage badges. I've seen videos of swapping on other vehicles, just not the M240i. I've never done anything like this and the last thing I want to do is jack it up! The trunk lid seems to be pretty straight forward (nylon strap slid behind the badge and pull), it's the front that's stressing me out.

Super easy

Tape around the top and bottom edge.
Heat it up
I couldnt get the nylon strap to not curl up and come thru the other side.

I ended up just slipping a squeegee like this one under the edge and they came right up https://a.co/d/dFENepZ

Clean up left over glue and clean. I didn't have much at all.
Peel and stick new ones on and give a good press.

Legit takes under 10min even if you have a lot of glue to clean
Under 5 if you get a clean pull

Ended up doing it like this video

What did you use to heat it? A hair dryer or an actual heat gun? I don't want to ruin the PPF. I'll ask my guy if there's anything special I need to do.

Hair dryer
It doesn't need much. Hot day out is probably good too

I'm in AZ so maybe I'll wait until spring. I'm really anxious to put them on though. Oddly enough it's only been in the 50's around here lately. Freezing!!!

I’m going to try the cable tie or banding trick but this video shows how easily they come off

I’m doing mine over Xmas. Noticed the front badge has little anchors and I’m slightly worried they might break when being removed

They pulled up fine. Just bent a little. No biggie. You probably aren't reusing them anyways as the glue is gone anyways.

Really easy

Great find!!!!
Two things….One, I need a pressure washer so I can use a proper foam cannon. Two, this looks WAY easier than other videos I’ve seen. Thanks you for finding this!

Nope, but pretty much did the same thing.

Ind and some others don't even heat it. Just tape, slup squeegee, clean left over glue. And swap.

Super easy to do! I didn’t have a pry tool so I used a Lego separator from my kid’s Lego set to pry it up. Took 15 minutes for both MAX! Kinda scary to do for me since I’ve never tried to do anything like this.

I was just nervous that I would damage something I couldn’t repair myself and then my wife would be all over me. Thank you for the tips!!!

Just done mine. Front popped off in seconds and didn’t leave any adhesive. Rear I found I couldn’t pull off with the banding trick, had to lever off with plastic trim removers.

Really happy with the result

I had issue with the back as well. Definitely a little more stuck than the front.

With it being so easy to remove the badges, I just hope none of you get ‘badge collectors’ calling!

Yea good point that. I imagine what will be the worst part of that scenario is the damage they will cause doing the removal

I guess that depends on your neighborhood but everyone around me wouldn’t even know that it’s not OEM and couldn’t care less anyway. Not to mention it’s garaged the majority of the time

Glad this thread exists... I had them on my order but the allocation didn't come through until this week. Turns out they won't supply the heritage badge for any order placed in 2023. 😔

Of course I do but not in an area where I have to worry about it. Nobody is going to carry s tool to remove them without destroying it either. Otherwise badges would be missing all over the place. My dad had an old Dodge pickup truck with the cool Ram hood ornament, now THAT was stolen all the time. He eventually quit replacing it.
