how soon before we see some (independent)reviews?

Now that the car has entered production, how long before they start to give some motoring journalists a drive in the real thing, and we start to see some reviews of the real-world car rather than BMW-friendly reviews of the prototype?

IIRC the G80/2 reviews came out roughly 6mo after the reveal. G87 was revealed October 10th which would put it around the same time as the launch in April. This is just a guesstimate of course. At some point we'll get info of when the embargo will officially be lifted.

Define “independent”? These guys are all shills that don’t want to piss off the manufacturers and get cut off from future access. Chevy could reintroduce the Vega, even shittier than the original, and Joe Raiti would be creaming in his BVDs, proclaiming what an awesome automobile this is.

There’s plenty out there that aren’t shy to criticize. Throttle house being my favorite.

Agreed. I have been hearing the press embargo will expire sometime in February. March seems more likely, at least to me.

I like those guys too. Yeah they seem to be straight shooters. They're in the minority though as far as being willing to be critical.

There are plenty of folks willing to be critical. You just have to know their language and style to pick it up.

March/April. Going by the timeline of the F87 M2. Going to be awhile.

Keep in mind that we generally see automotive reviews of new vehicles prior to them launching for consumer purchasing. This is intentional to drive consumer demand. We will see reviews prior to launch in April.

Aren’t the first US deliveries happening in April. Sucks we won’t get to see any review content first.

Agree the YouTube generation of car videos is a company-pleasing shitshow of fakeness. I miss the days when Clarkson would absolutely destroy some random new car!!! 😂

these days you get every loser praising everything to kiss up the companies so they get “free” 6 month loaners and endorsement deals

Topgear was I believe funded by the BBC which is a public station in the UK... the closest thing we ever had to that was MotorWeek which was funded by like PBS and the state of Maryland (albeit I don't know anyone that's watched that for like 20 years and the production quality was lol even tho I liked the presenter). Point being is that it was far easier for them to not be biased as they weren't funded by ads... Point being, I think everyone on youtube is funded by someone otherwise they won't get the cars. Even Savagegeese almost NEVER says anything negative about a Lexus and most Toyota products and his entry level luxury car of the year was a Lexus ES ( don't know anyone that's bought that this decade).

I do appreciate the throttle house guys, I wonder if them being in Canada has something do with it.
