I've seen lots of posts of people having issues with the BMW app starting their car, and I've had issues as well. I also do not like the idea of the BMW app requiring a time (and at least 10 mins in the future) for the car to start. My solution has been to use Alexa. Simply send a text from the Alexa app, or speak it, and within 10 seconds the car starts.

So tell me, how does the “This day in history” skill start your car???

The BMW app doesn’t require a time to start. It starts within 10 seconds of whenever I want to start it

I've had no issues either. Before walking out of the building at work I start the car from the app and by the time I get to the car 3-4 mins later, its always running and steering wheel warmed up.

I did have an issue starting it with the key fob, but that may have been user error. I was clicking the roundel 3 times. Oddly, in the past I've accidentally started it as when I lock the car I have OCD so I click the lock/roundel button a million times.

What’s your secret? Is there more than one MyBMW app?

I want to hook up my Alexa but I could see my 2 year old killing the entire family when she starts up my car with the garage closed.

Just learned something new.

So now my question is why doesn’t the “Plan Climate Control” allow you to plan the climate control? Am I missing an option in the app to set the temp and fan control?

It should work, did you enable it in the car itself as the app tells you?

Do you have to maybe adjust the time to over 10 minutes from now before enabling it? I just was able to enable/toggle starting it at 7 am.

I’m asking if the app offers a way to set the temperature, A/C vs. heat, fan speed, defrost, etc? I’m not finding it and I’d assume if one is “planning climate control” it would offer this??

It says "Plan climate control (engine start)", it may be implied that it only starts the engine and you have the climate control set as you want it when you last used the car.

That’s what I thought. Such an odd way to describe an engine start, and sort of useless in regions with cold mornings and warm afternoons.

If you leave your climate control set to auto, with AC enabled, it should handle all scenarios.

But agreed, the naming of the feature doesn't make sense, they should just call it remote start and leave climate control out of it.
