How long did you wait?

I've had my M240 now for just over 4 months and all gong fine except for getting use to all of the new technology,,,,,

I originally ordered on 20th July 2021 and didn't get delivery until 18th August 2022 so nearly 13 months wait,,, what I want to know are the deliveries getting better? or are there people out there have waited longer than I did?

Ordered on 8/24/22 and took delivery on 11/14/22 (technically...I got the car a month later b/c I had it transported from another state). I got lucky, as I scooped up an open allotment a dealer had.

A little under 3 months. The dealer had an allocation for me already and I’m on the west coast.

what took so long? I ordered mine that same time (with an allocation) and got it in July. I was lucky to get a 2022 model lol.

Longer than I wanted

Ordered May 15th
Should get it in a week.
So a bit longer than 7 months.
I could have bought a 230 on may 15th.
But knew I really wanted a M240
So that was my choice I guess.

Ordered 12/01/21
picked up at dealer 2/08/22
roughly 2 months
As has been said repeatedly on this forum, ya gotta make sure the dealer has an open allocation, otherwise you can wait a really long time.
I called around and selected a dealer that had an open/current allocation, which i verified when visited the dealer, definitely worth the 100 mile distance 1 way to acquire the car in a timely manner.

I got lucky. Walked into a dealer 2 miles from my house at the end of August and they had an October allocation available.

Damn reading these year long waits is making me loose hope. I don't think I want to wait that long a I'll be having more miles on my current car decreasing its value for trade in. I called different dealerships and they have no allocations either and tell me I an probably better off waiting with my initial order.

I wonder how crazy the markup would be on one that is at a dealer not reserved for anyone. Definitely do not want to pay any markup. That's why I ordered, given 4-6 months aprox wait.

If you're in LA, call Stevens Creek BMW up in San Jose. They had 6 allotments when I got mine back in August. They do a lot of volume, so get allocations like crazy. I know the Bay Area ain't exactly close, but it's better than waiting 6-8 months or more to get your cars.

I think LA area may be slightly different, but at MSRP or even below MSRP can be found if you dig around a bit, especially now when economy isn't so good.

I second this, if they are willing to accept non local customers to fill allocations.

You should split it to order date, production date and delivery date.
Mine was produced over 3 months ago and it is still parked in Mexico.

Aside from avoiding markup, I wouldn't settle on a car this expensive that is not optioned exactly as I want it. Ordering is the way to go. Obviously the wait sucks, but trust me it's worth it. I still look forward to every drive.

Ordered 03/18/22
Delivered 09/26/22
Recall/No Delivery (backup camera issues led to Stop Sale)
Picked Up 10/12/22

During the process, changed from MY22 to MY23 edition.

As others mentioned, get the car you want as you want it. Each day is a joy to get into the car! Even on my days off, I want to drive the car!
