M240i 0-60 Times

Just wanted to see what everyone else was getting.

Car is completely stock at this point. DP, Intake, JB4 coming soon.

3.73 seconds this morning. Couple days ago I got 4.2 in the rain. Lol.

I don't have photo of my results but it was:
0-60 mph (3,6 s)
100-200 km/h (8,39 s)
60-130 mph (9,77 s)

My car is tunned (488 HP) but it was normal start, without launch control.

Thanks to your photo I can see that your time 0-30 mph was 1.39 s and mine 2.28 s - this is where launch control let you accelerate faster.

Thats quick, but i'm a little sad that your DP, JB4, and Trans Tune mods only produced a .2 difference in 0-60. hummm...

The downpipe still hasn’t been installed. It’s entertaining a closet upstairs because I’ve been a lazy ass.

(Oh, and a lot of wheel spin in 1st and 2nd)

I wonder if a good set of sticky tires alone would make more of a difference than a tune when using launch control.

I get next to NO wheel spin on the 3.7, And when I launched it in the pouring rain at 4.2, it barely had any wheel spin... The xDrive is pretty planted.

2.9 is really fast... I don't think you'll be able to get that unless you have a custom tune on E85. definitely not on 91 with a JB4 lol but hey, who knows what this engine is capable of

Did anyone try 60-130 mph or 100-200 km/h?

Ain't gonna happen. Not even close.

Only way to get close is to cheat like the car magazines do by using 1 foot of rollout.

Maybe so? My best run so far, and I don't test it that often, was after I tweaked the xHP transmission tune and had the JB4 on Map 4 (as shown above) and it was in the high 30's F with summer tires. As the car launched I was sitting there thinking, "Don't get your hopes up, those tires are not gripping!". I was surprised, and pleased, to see the 3.58 and hope I can get under 3.5 once the DP is installed and have more ideal temperatures.

My goal is a 3.3, as that's a full second under BMW's official claim. I may even give Map 5 a shot one day?

Once you’ve got the power, it all comes down to grip and torque management. This is where it would be so nice if we could use ECUTEK software like the pre-June 2020 B58 cars can. My GTR uses ECUTEK and consistently nails 2.5s 0-60 (2.3s with 1’ rollout) on 20” wheels and cold unprepped concrete… just by dialing in launch control settings and traction control tuning. If ECUTEK catches up and cracks the new B58 DMEs, we will all be doing real well in this department.

Grip and torque management is exactly how Tesla's get into the 1's.

Precisely. Except the frequency and control is so much higher. ICE cars need more available grip to compensate for the less refined torque management. At least for now. I won’t be surprised if the OEMs who chase cutting edge tech figure out a way to do it in the drivetrain with ICE. Like the way differentials are being replaced with clutch packs. They are getting further down the line.. now the new RS3 has a clutch pack for each rear axle. I won’t be surprised if they can eventually refine the controls for these clutches to the point that they can make up for the lack of engine torque control compared to electric. That would be something.

3.7 is exactly what I got too, using launch control and a Dragy. No mods at all, yet.
