Can you retrofit Steptronic Sport Transmission software?

I have a 2015 335i (F30 N55) M-Sport sedan. It came with M Sport suspension and brakes, but seemingly just the regular Steptronic automatic transmission (I have a fat M steering wheel with no paddles, and I have no Launch Control mode).

From my brief research, it appears the hardware of my transmission is the same as the Steptronic Sport Transmission. The difference in packages appears to be steering wheel shifter paddles, a different shifter lever, and different software (including things like Launch Control, shifting timing differences, etc).

Does anyone here know if it's possible to at least retrofit the software of the Steptronic Sports Transmission into my car, so that it behaves like Steptronic Sport Transmission rather than regular Steptronic Transmission? Where could I go about getting that software update done and for how much $$$? I already have a BM3 stage 1 flash tune.

Hmmm...when messing around on bootmod3.net's site, I see they have a transmission section. Here I can see an option for the 'Stock 8-speed Automatic TCU Flash' and an 'Upgraded 8-speed Automatic TCU Flash' option. I wonder if this 'Upgraded' TCU flash is one in the same with the Steptronic Sport Transmission software?

Ah, I now see you can activate the Sport Automatic Transmission via bimmercode, which I also have. So this appears to be different than the BM3 upgraded TCU flash, based on my research. Interesting. I was about to go to bed, but I don't know if I can resist a quick BM3 flash and cruise

I'll probably go with the BM3 flash over the bimmercode 'stock' sports flash, for now. Any input is welcomed! For example, perhaps I should do the bimmercode 'stock' sports flash first, and perhaps the BM3 upgrade flash will add onto it rather than overwrite it?

No it's not.. it removes the torque limits

Just code the sport trans on with bimmercode or carly.

Use xhp for the trans flash not the bm3 version.

They aren't the same thing btw

It may also be important to point out that the Bootmod3 automatic transmission tune is free and xHP is expensive.

When I was running Bootmod3 Stage1 & Stage2, the BM3 automatic transmission tune provided was a nice improvement. xHP is obviously a more robust full featured automatic transmission tune. But it costs $319 for the xHP license and xHP map pack.

When I was running BM3 Stage1 and modding my car on a limited budget, there were other mods higher on my priority list where I could spend that $319. Later when I was running a BM3 Stage2+ tune, xHP was really a requirement so I bought it. It is a great product.

Thanks for the replies. Tonight I simply enabled the sport transmission mode via BimmerCode app. Holy sh*t. It's a different car. It and my stage 1 BM3 tune must compliment each other like a mf too. I also now have Launch Control mode. That's how I found out I had basic bish transmission (I researched why I didn't have launch control on an M-Sport car). I have to say, I was not expecting to notice much. But it’s almost the same level of difference I noticed when I first flashed to BM3 stage 1. The automatic shifting has much more of a feel to it also (I like it).

So now I’m presuming the next step is flash TCU with bm3 or xPH and I’ll still (hopefully) have launch control mode and BMW sport transmission software, just with different torque limits(?)

The different transmission tunes have nothing to do with the "sport trans". The sport trans doesn't really do anything for performance tbh.

The bm3 flash removes the limiters that are slowing you down

Xhp removes the limiters and speeds up shifting and adds a whole bunch of stuff that make performance 1000000xs better.
