DIY fix for TLG Mudflaps
You can order the TLG (Tommy L Garage) Mudflaps directly from him @ got6speed@gmail.com. They're $99 shipped and I'd say very much worth it considering how chewed up our sideskirts and rear diffuser get right behind the wheels.
Overall a very well made kit however there were 3 concerns that bothered me. 1. The included screws in the kit are black oxide coated steel. A few members have already reported rust in as little as a month. 2. On the front mudflaps, the self tapping screw included in the kit to be used at the bottom of the mudflap isnt' very secure. It's screwed into a thin piece of soft plastic which you can easily strip if you overtighten and it may work itself out over time. 3. On the rear mudflaps, using the included long screws, you’ll notice the corners where the rear bumbler and black diffuser meet are loose. Even though the Mudflaps are secure with no movement, the aforementioned bumper corner flexes quite easily. It’ll probably flap around on the highway when you drive. The reason why it does this is because there is a ~3/8” gap of unsupported area (bare thread with the included long screw) between the mudflap and the threaded hole. That hole aligns and holds together the rear diffuser corner and rear bumper corner to the hard mounting point attached to the cars frame. A quick visit to Home Depot or Lowes and ~$15 worth of hardware will fix these issues. You'lll need: x2 aluminum pop rivets x4 stainless steel fender washers x4 large plastic drywall anchors x4 stainless sheet metal screws either with a hex or philips button head For the front mudflaps, instead of the short screw included in the kit for the bottom section, I just used a short aluminum pop rivet. Pre-drill a hole large enough to clear the rivet and use a good rivet tool. No way this will work itself out and no rust. For the rear mudflaps, cut the plastic drywall anchors down to ~3/8". Thread the new stainless machine screw through the mudlap and slide the plastic and anchor and stainless fender washer on. Then simply install it the 2 areas where you removed the factory bolts. No flex in the bumper/diffuser and no issues with rust.

Thank you!! Going to look into this and try it out myself.. was very disappointed to see that the screws rusted after just one month.
What size pop rivet did you use? |

I had a few leftover pop rivets from installing my Corvettes sideskirts. They are " Short Black Anodized Split rivets (10 mm un-crimped)"

I would love to get these but hate the idea of buying more stuff to do a proper install. Is the seller addressing the issue for new purchases?
Or is there another option besides the more expensive carbon fiber versions? |

I'm surprised he sells these with crappy screws that rust.
I understand that he cannot compensate for gaps for every car he produces flaps for, as that would be a huge pain for him. I'm going to do mine proper in the spring, it's too cold to be bothered with that now. |
