Auto start/stop not working

I’m not a fan of auto start/stop but I have noticed that my car never turns off while driving.

This is while I am in Eco or Comfort mode
Shifter is in normal operation/position
Car has warmed up
It’s above freezing

My first thought is that my battery might be a little low based upon my short daily drive. Thoughts on why it isn’t functioning. I get the icon on the dash with the line through it.

My OTA update hasn’t installed yet which I think might be due to battery level.

Thanks

You just answered your own question, start/stop won’t function if the battery is low on charge. Mind, there are loads of other occasions when it is designed not to operate (it’s way smarter than any previous system). Take a look at this thread:

I wish mine would stop working. I hate when I forget to push the button. Hopefully Bimmercode will support ID8 soon so I can disable it.

Doesn’t bother me, it’s way smarter than it was in my previous M135i and I hardly notice it

I've never had a vehicle with start/stop before, and around town... idk, it seems to work pretty well! The transition is smooth as soon as I begin to lift my foot off the brake. Maybe it's because your battery not being fully charged up like you said.

Thanks, I’m going for a long drive this weekend, we will see if that helps.

Long drive didn’t solve it, have an appointment next week. System said there was a battery issue through my key fob.

Just for a data point for you. Mine worked tonight when we took the car for a couple laps around the block. Pulled back into the driveway and it shut off. It was 24 F outside. Battery was 12.9 when I started the car to warm up.

On the opposite side of the coin from the OP's issue with start/stop, this morning, I could not turn off the start/stop function during the morning commute. I have always been able to disable it. In comfort-mode; same drive daily (~40 miles) so cannot be a battery issue.

Any thoughts?

Another option is to go the xHP Flash route. Not only does it greatly improve the shifting characteristics of your transmission, but it offers the option to disable start/stop. I also like how it now shows what gear I'm in when the transmission is in Drive (as opposed to only seeing the gear when in Sport or Manual).

I remember the days when cars with automatic transmissions first started coming out with a tachometer; thought it was the dumbest thing ever.

Now that I have an automatic I want to know what gear I'm in!
