Protecting Door Sills & Headrest Badges
I've had my '22 G82 Comp since 11/2021, and every time I get in the car I have the urge to remove the factory blue film that covers the two door sills and the illuminated badges on the headrests - but then I stop myself and to this day, they remain.
I'm curious if anyone has thought up something to protect either the door sills or headrest badges? My car is fully PPF'd / ceramic coated / ceramic tinted / leather protected / screen protected / etc, and I'm hesitant to "expose" these remaining pieces. I spoke to my detailer, who mentioned that he hadn't had anyone else ask for these areas to get covered, and that a lot of owners will simply never remove the blue film. Any suggestions? Have you simply kept either/both spots covered in your car or peeled off the film? |

Man, this is wild. Just remove the tape and enjoy the car. Being too OCD will seriously take away from the experience.

After a year of ownership, my son pointed out to me that I still had the blue plastic over the seat badges. Better late than never I guess.

Don't save it for the next guy.
Enjoy your car.

Removing the tape will not damage anything.

****Exactly. The next guy will park the car under a tree full of birds, drive in muddy areas, and never wash the car.
Enjoy what you have. I know someone so OCD they have plastic covers on the seats of their "nice" cars, and a steering wheel cover so they don't wear out the finish on the wheel, and put plastic protective tape on the door sills and other areas that tend to get a bit scratched if not careful, or even just from regular use. At some point, that kind of behavior becomes excessive. Take care of your stuff, but enjoy it too. |

I have a little OCD, but don't we all when it comes to our vehicles. I have to admit, I have plastic over the threshold of my interior rocker panels, as people tend to drag their feet over it. Especially my 78 yr. old mother

***My grandmother literally had plastic over her sofas and seats in the living room.... Her living room looked almost *exactly* like below, but with the chairs and sofa covered in these plastic covers

This is so funny, as my grandmother had plastic and I can identify with all of this.

A product like the tape/film in post #10 is a good idea. I added some to the top of the bumper cover (painted surface) of son's SUV & it keeps the scratches away!

I used something very similar, to placed on top of my interior rock panels of my M3, since my car is lowered.

The irony is after both my grandparents died my parents just chucked the sofas and couches, plastic covered and all, into the local dump nearby. The things smelled of old stale cigarettes, and were SO out of fashion with those flowery prints on them that nobody wanted them, even for free. I'm sure at some point our fashionable stuff now will seem ridiculously outdated at some point. Progress and all that! |

Leaving that stuff on is equivalent to those yellow/pink bumper guard things on the Dodge's. Just peel it off and try not to throw bricks or something at the badges and you'll be fine.

Hey you know what they say, one man’s trash is another man’s treasure lol. But eventually the trend will return someday as far as fashion goes. |
