Anybody Try Converting BRx Audio Files to MP3?
I recently traded in my 2015 235 for a new 240. I had ripped a pretty killer set of songs to that car's internal hard drive from the CD player over my 8 years of ownership. Backed up the files to a USB drive and then wiped all my personal data off the iDrive system before trade in.
Well, as we know, there is no CD drive in the 2023 and iDrive 8 recognizes popular audio formats (MP3 etc.), but NOT BMW's proprietary file format. So when inserting the USB into the 2023, no media found. What a shock. I'm sure BMW 's intent with that old functionality was to back up your music in case the drive was wiped or replaced, then you would re-install to the drive. Get it. That doesn't help me now. Looks like there are a few BMW file converters out in cyberspace. Anybody try one? Other solutions seem to be to rip again and export to USB or just try and replicate a playlist in YouTube music or Spotify and just stream to the car. Not ideal, but it is what it is.

I solved my own problem. I dug up my old gen 7 iPod Nano with bluetooth connectivity and successfully paired to iDrive8. Done. I just have to add some more media and build out some playlists. Funny thing here is that when I connected the device via cable I get "media device not supported". All good when paired. I'll put the file conversion on the back burner for now.
