Did you get regular seat belts or M seat belts? It seems some people on the forum got M stitching on their seatbelts, so I’m curious to see if it was everyone with a 2023 base or just some.

I received the regular (non stitched) belts. Build week 41 picked up in December '22

Disappointing because m240i owners do get the stitching!

Just black belts for me. I was hoping for the M stitching but it did not happen here.

Now I’m wondering if maybe it’s a later build thing? It looks like M4 Base will get M seat belts standard for MY24, I’m guessing the M3 will also, so maybe they did a mid year switch off?

I got M belts on my 23 6MT

Build date 9/27/22

Through the forum I met someone with the same build date as me and basically the same spec. He didn’t get them. There appears to be zero rhyme or reason to it IMHO.

I just took delivery of a '23 6MT and got the black seat belts.

Build date on my car was 11/2022.

As I noted above, I got the M belts on my ‘23 G80 6MT, built 1st week of August 2022.

I doubt this has anything to do with it but I do recall that when my CA initially entered my order into the system (with me on the phone), he accidentally selected an M3 Competition XDrive as my model. I recall he went through option-by-option asking what I wanted and what I didn’t. He eventually asked me about the “Driver Assistance Package” which of course isn’t an option on the Base 6MT so I brought this to his attention- that’s when he realized he’d selected the Competition XDrive model by accident.
He changed the model to Base 6MT at that point and confirmed my options.
When he printed out my spec sheet “4GQ M Belts” was on there!

Maybe there’s a glitch in the BMW dealer ordering system whereby if they configure a Competition model (which includes M Belts) but then switch it to Base 6MT, somehow the “4GQ M Belts” gets carried over by accident?
Maybe calbears knows?

Either way, it looks like 2024 Base M3 & M4 models will include the M Belts as standard from now on. Only the 2024 M4 ordering guide is out but they’re on it standard now!

I got the all black belts, My M4 was built the last week of June 2022, and was one of the last 2022's built (Week 26).

Wow your VIR has 4GQ on it! That’s interesting. Mine definitely doesn’t have that. Maybe what you’re saying is the key? An order switched from Comp to Base.

My production sheet had 4GQ on it as well. I knew mine was coming with them.

I think the dealer thing is an interesting hypothesis. I took over a 112 allocation. It’s very possible the dealer had it spec’d as an xdrive (since this is New England and most are xdrive) before they switched it to my 6MT spec.

It might be M3 vs. M4. They are built at different factories.

And you can - if you were ordering a base M3 6MT in Germany. 😂 Almost every option is a-la-Carte!

€300 for the M belts!
