As a GM guy - it's not going to be easy to root for RBR lol. But seems like this is just expensive advertising space with no real involvement. |

The new 2026 rules raise the total power available from the electric motor from 120 kW (160 HP) in today's cars to 350 kW (470 HP). The engines will run on 100% sustainable fuels sourced from non-food plants, municipal waste, or carbon capture, meaning no new carbon dioxide will be added to the atmosphere by the engines. Environmental sustainability — The 2026 Power Unit will include an increase in the deployment of electrical power to up to 50% and utilize a 100% sustainable fuel. Don't see where Ford can get the nesessary advanced F1 technology . But I'm sure HONDA can do it , that's why I'm thinking that Red Bull will stick with the advanced HONDA technology. I can hear it already ... Too bad and too green ! The 2026 F1 cars will sound like my expresso coffee machine !

From Ford Global:
Ford's return to F1 wasn’t possible without changes to engine rules... Asked if Ford would have returned had the rules not changed for 2026, Ford global director Mark Rushbrook said: “No, I don’t think we would." “If it was a carry over power unit without this opportunity, that would have been a step backwards for us.” “We don't just go racing just as a marketing exercise anywhere. And especially in Formula 1, as the stage that it is, the opportunity to really get that technical learning, it was important for us. “Without it, we wouldn't have done it.” https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/f...ules/10427993/ |
