Carbon Fiber Spoiler Issue
Is anyone else having this issue with the port installed carbon fiber trunk spoiler? When I wash the car water collects under spoiler and will run out when the trunk is opened creating white streaks and water spots. This goes on for 3 to 4 days. I wonder if the spoiler was installed
correctly, and if water freezes under the spoiler it could cause other problems. Thank you |

They use betalink adhesive at the port and probably left a gap somewhere which allows water to get underneath and collect.

I was wondering if you can explain what/where "port installed" is and if this is a factory install, are you talking about the BMW Perfomance Past CF spoiler??
If so I'm not thinking they left a gap but wondering if it's the BMW CF spoiler, if they are using two strips of 3M at the front and back of the spoiler which leaves a gap at the end for water to get in and trapped at the sides. I'm guessing the factory spoiler they just use a single wide strip of adhesive since it's not a very wide spoiler so there should be no channel for water to get into. Something similar to how the TRE spoiler is installed here from AutoID you can see the two separate strips and wondered myself if water getting trapped would be a long term issue. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/djDLbnXZ9rI Last edited by donm527; 02-12-2023 at 04:43 PM.. |

Domn, It is the BMW M Performance Carbon Fiber spoiler factory ordered actually installed at the port as many of the options are. I am hoping there is a fix without removing the spoiler which could destroy the paint.

It's unfortunate & annoying but it's not the end of the world. Just buy some 3m double sided tape, an adhesive remover wheel for your drill, and some goo gone. You can have it remounted perfectly with just 1-2 hours of your time.
