Release Date: Available Now!

Description: Borrowing on classic engine/valve cover elements from yesteryear, the Dinan G2x/G4x B58 engine cover takes those queues and incorporates additional elements to form a transformative engine bay dress up piece like no other.

Like the ever popular and lusted after E36/E46 Dinan carbon fiber valve covers of the past, the G chassis B58 engine cover mimics the BMW power stripes but with a Dinan twist. Beyond the legacy homage, the 2x2 gloss or matte twill carbon fiber base gives way to opposing matte/gloss carbon fiber and white painted accents among the cylinder count callouts. This small touch adds visual intrigue to an otherwise largely feature deficient landscape. The conflicting finishes also carry the added benefit of tying together elements within the space that may be of the secondary finish for nearly limitless visual versatility in a single piece.

Features/Benefits:
  • Available in either gloss or matte 2x2 twill carbon fiber with the opposing (gloss or matte) carbon fiber and painted white accents
  • Power stripes featuring Dinan – an homage to OEM and legacy Dinan engine/valve covers
  • Direct replacement of factory engine cover
  • Lighter - OEM cover: 4.1 pounds vs. Dinan Cover: 2.9 pounds
  • Grommets included for quick and easy installation

Are the white accent vinyl decals or painted/silkscreened on? Also are these accent underneath or applied over the clearcoat?

All accents are underneath the clearcoat. The Dinan+Bars is vinyl (only way we could get the sharpness we desired) whereas the white cylinder count accents are painted/silkscreened.

Later this year for both is about as specific as it gets right now (way too many variables yet which can drastically alter timing).

21+ flashing is an unknown. Encryption/unlocking is still being worked on and a breakthrough could come next week or months/years from now. The goal however is a solution completely domestic in nature.

Completely useless performance wise, but damn do I want one. I'll be adding this to my spreadsheet for round two of mods. This piece looks great.

I placed an order a few days ago with Dinan for strut tower braces. Any ETA on those?

Saves a pound so thats worth like .00001 seconds in the 1/4 mile. Look hard enough and you can find an excuse.

G20/G42 one (D180-0014) strut braces has a build order in with production so shipping next week I would presume.

I just received it in the mail.

Dinan_Engineering is the foam on the OEM engine cover supposed to be transferred over on the new engine cover?

It is not. The Dinan cover does not have the locator standoffs that would be needed to hold the foam. I guess you could transfer it over if you wanted to use some sort of adhesive or something but it is not intended to be transferred over.

The main purpose of the foam is to assist in deadening NVH (injector/engine noise) but none of us ever noticed a sound increase in the cabin, or otherwise, during development and ours were always run "naked" so to speak. The downside of the foam is it traps heat so without having the sound downside it made sense to not carry it over (and save a a bit of weight in the process).

So are the Dinan vinyl decals removeable (on top of the clearcoat) so I can put the BMW back on? to keep it OEM looking?
