Does Anyone Know how the New M2 DRIVES?

I realize there is a review embargo for a few more weeks and that some press members haven't even driven the car yet.

But there are lots of people who have driven the car, including the prototype last year. There has to be some sentiment about how it drives.

I'm holding out hope the new one is as playfully fun as the last one. I'm waiting to see if it's easy to oversteer in a progressive, non-threatening manner that makes this average driver feel like a hero. I know it's going to be faster around a track, but honestly that's pretty low down my priority list. If I wanted a track toy I'd buy a Porsche. I want something that's a hoot at legal speeds on regular roads.

Sorry, my patience is wearing thin. I guess I should just stick it out for a few more weeks but the wait seems incredibly long.

Have you watched the YouTube reviews on the pre-production G87 that came out last summer? Joe Achilles, Shmee, etc.

If the G87 is anything like the G8X (which it totally is - same drive train, chassis components, etc) it will be easy to oversteer in a controlled manner. Very fun as it'll likely break traction easily even with MDM on.

If you want something that is a hoot at legal speeds on regular roads, you should get a miata or FRS/BRZ. BMWs with a S58 engine in it, whether it be the X3M, M3, M4, etc. are extremely fast. Faster than a lot of Porsches too. I can see how the oversteer can be leveraged for fun on backroads, but be prepared to step on the gas and after a few seconds backing off before hitting triple digit speeds.

I've watched a ton of them, but most reviewers weren't allowed to give driving impressions. Those that did focused on how the car performed on track. Just not what I'm after.

I guess 5 more weeks to wait isn't the end of the world. Sometimes I just wish for a good leak or two!

The hope for most of us is that BMW will make a M240 steer like a GT4 in the new M2, but if the past is any indication (M5CS, M4CSL) it’ll end up driving like a better BMW instead.

Take a G42 review and mix in a G80/G82 review or two, add one of the G87 track reviews and you're set.

This seems like the most scientific and accurate way to find out, at least with our current resources.

I predict this car will get fabulous reviews. Lock in on a car now for ~MSRP while you still can.
