I'm out. (Back in, update later in thread).

I think it was Tag that kept saying to be skeptical of dealers saying MSRP.

He was right.

I've been on the list at Reading BMW since July 2021 and it's always been MSRP. I have several emails confirming such.

After recommending them a few time due to MSRP, someone on facebook messaged me the other day that they were now saying 5K ADM.

To confirm that they weren't doing that to me, and because I had been recommending them, I asked my CA what was up. They replied that ADM is going to 10K but would do 5K for me since I'm first.

I replied with,

"That's the opposite of what we've discussed. I'm afraid I'll be backing out.

Thanks anyway,"

He then called me and said that they were willing to do two things;

1) Split the difference at $2500 ADM for the first one.
2) Stay at MSRP but bump me down to 3 or 4 on the list.

I told him I wasn't doing either of those, and that I'll just revisit this car in a few years with another dealer.

Steer clear of Reading BMW.

I'm sorry to anyone that I pointed in that direction. I am completely disgusted and disappointed beyond words.

I'll check back in when dealers aren't as willing to ruin relationships over 2500 dollars. I guess I'm equally culpable as I simply won't reward that behavior.

Garbage business. Sorry that happened to you.

EDIT - Looks like management got wind of this and resolved the issue. Good on them for that.

Honestly this thing isn't worth a penny over msrp. Good call.

Classic bait-and-switch.

I don’t blame you. If my dealer pulls that garbage, I’ll just pass. I really don’t need another car, much less a brand new G87 M2.

I'll look at the positive, I'll probably be able to get one at a discount eventually, like my F87 that I got for 9% under MSRP.

Oh well.

Time to drink a little lol.

Even if it’s worth $50k over, it’s still an absolutely dreadful business practice not keeping a firm promise made even yesterday, much less nearly 2 years ago, when lists were empty and OP had tons of options.

Complete trash behavior.

Wow that's horrible way to do business. And for just a couple of grand.
They are near me and they'll never get any business from me or anybody that asks me for dealer recommendation.

Deposit, too. That’s a 100% lock. Realistically, no actual BMW store would break a deal with all 3 in place. Simple recourse if they tried.

It is just an M2, nothing special about it.

Just the typical early M allocation shenanigans. Always some sleazy dealers.

HEA's should not be worth more than MSRP. But serious question - do you think a nicely spec'd m2 won't increase in secondary markets when they land? We've seen the supply issue, the market is only partially cooled off, and there are x y z things about this car that make it desirable. Not saying it's right and I agree we shouldn't reward the behavior...but feels like reality atm

I definitely appreciate an experienced opinion and your perspective. But...

I remember as a kid, teenager, early adult daydreaming of a car like this. It's amazing how jaded people become with experience and good fortune.

Yes, I had an F40, Diablo, 959, and Testarossa posters on my walls in elementary school. But this car is just as powerful and fast and more capable for 1/10th the price. How's that for perspective?

That's exactly right, you already have some nice whips to enjoy so you're in a good position to wait. Crappy experience.

Well some positive news, but I won't say it's super positive until things are in writing and another order placed, but I posted this experience on the BMW of PA group and almost immediately the dealer that's actually local to me offered me their ZB HEA at MSRP!

I can't do that color, but then I found out that they don't have a list yet, and I just secured that first spot! I'm in Paris right now, flying back tomorrow, and will be hooking up with them to secure that spot at MSRP.

So I'm not going to say it's for sure or with whom until it's all in writing. Don't want to have this experience again.

I will be waiting a little bit though, he doesn't think they'll get a modifiable allocation for a while. They're not a bigger M dealer like Reading was.

Ooof. I'm going to have to give their HEA serious thought. OTHER THAN THE COLOR, the rest is immediately OK with me. I've simply been turned off by the photos of ZB out there.

Good for you! I was excited for you when you got your allocation. What BS. If my dealer does this, or I don’t get my Allocation by the end of March (first on list) then I will move on as well.

That’s a great spec. I’d talk to management in person and see if they’ll do the right thing.
