Anyone Else Thinks This Looks Cheap?

Really loving the interior of my X5 and it is so much more premium than any Lexus I have owned. One thing, this cover on the dash looks cheap IMO. I guess they are doing this so it’s not as reflective on the windshield. Any one have any suggestions on replacing it with something that looks better? I have the HK sound system.

Thanks

This is barely better. The B&W is a tad bit shiny, but the rest is flat and the piece isn't flush with the dash. I was surprised to see this in these premium vehicles.

The part needs to be pressed down into the dash a bit more. Someone on the assembly line was lazy.

The B&W looks a little better than the HK's. I guess the only other solution is to custom fabricate one that fits if you don't like the OEM center speaker grill.

You can cover it with thin speaker fabric.

Wonderful idea. I hadn't though of that, but given how easy it is to take that cover off, would be simple to try a few things and see how it looks

That center speaker cover holds on for dear life. Takes a bit of careful prying so you don't gouge up the leather dash.

Mine looks like this. Ugh. Dealer says they will get it replaced under warranty.

So anything would be better.

Definitely not a fan of the center channel cover. I also feel like the B&W could have been a little nicer. I do have my eye on the pop out B&O cover that is on Aliexpress but seeing as I've yet to see anyone try it I feel like I might be the guinea pig on this one when the time comes for me to add the B&W speaker grilles and upgrade all the speakers.

This is interesting. I'd like to know if anyone with the symphony or HK systems have done this. I wonder if it's just a direct swap and connect with existing plugs.

This aliexpress seller has a short video highlighting the install process.

https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256804178687865.html

It's not showing a G05, but based on the cable bundle included with the G05 kit, I'd guess that it's a similar install process.

Setting aside the possibility that it may be badged "Bong & Olvtsen"... That looks like a lot to tear open and rewire for something that may be distracting to have in your view at night.

Lol, I just watched the video and it does look like too much to do to replace that center speaker. I will pass on this and maybe just upgrade it with some snazzy speaker grill cloth or something.

My favorite thing about this part of the car is that it is REALLY good at holding onto any lint or fuzz from any cleaning cloths. Makes it look super great.
