Apparently it has an on/off switch so you can leave it plugged in all the time? I have the orange/red MHD universal and its a bit annoying unplugging it everytime.

Yes, and the V3 version you can leave it plugged on every car without triggering an alarm (supra and G series)

You also do not need to unplug in the V3 version or use the on/off switch as it goes into low power mode when you turn the car off.

I'm getting mine tomorrow.

+1

Toggle switch is for FULL power off and its available on V2A and V3. V3 goes low power mode automatically when plugged in and won't set off alarms on G series vehicles, consuming just 20mA, until you turn ignition back on.

With the BM3 Wi-Fi adapter and iOS, does it also use cellular internet connectivity while connected to the car? Would I be able to run logs in real time and just have them save to the cloud automatically?

I have the Kies adapter currently and in order to get BM3 to work using Android I have to go briefly online and disconnect from the adapter and then go completely offline and reconnect to the adapter all within the App. It's been really annoying not having an internet connection while logging my car. Does this adapter fix that?

You just copy the IP settings from the wifi connection and make it Manual instead of Automatic, copy the IP and Subnet Mask and make the Router thing empty. This keeps my internet and car connection alive full time on my iPhone.

Is there any provision for this on Android? I end up just using a physical enet cable for everything most of the time because I can't stay connected to the internet with these wireless ones.

Android you can't connect internet and WiFi adapter at the same time.

Its recommend you turn on internet, download the map and set the config settings and then turn off internet and flash.

Just for visibility...I accidentally left my new Wifi adapter v3 on my 2018 X3 M40i (G01:B581) and my alarm went off 2 times at night and I noticed significant battery drain. After taking it off I turned on the car and left it on for 10 minutes until the battery found 14.1+. It's all good now but I'm not sure everyone will have my same problems?

Otherwise, it works great.
