low n54 oil temp/constant yellow low coolant after new WP and TSTAT

I have an 2008 335i.

I installed my new Mishimoto waterpump, OE thermostat, and expansion tank this past weekend and im getting some weird results. After I bled the coolant system twice to make sure there was no air in the system, i started the car and I got a low coolant light immediately but the coolant tank was definitely full.

Before i drove to work the next morning and the coolant was slightly low but i wouldnt think it would cause a low coolant light. Also, on the drive to work i noticed that the oil temp gauge was moving extremely slow, and after about a 9 mile/20min drive it maxed around 215°f and it was fairly warm outside. Im also getting 0 codes and the heater still works perfect, which could possibly rule out the tstat but im really not sure. Thank you all, any help would be awesome.

Swap back your old expansion tank and see if the warning light goes away. Only take you a few minutes and you won't need to run the bleed cycle again as long as you don't have too much coolant leak out. Easiest way to see if your new coolant level sensor is bad or not

Sweet thanks yeah ill definitely try to swap the sensor, but maybe not the tank lol because it was leaking a bit. But thank you.

Would you happen to have any advice for the abnormal oil temps? Maybe caused by the faulty coolant level sensor?

2 separate issues but it sounds like your oil temp is pretty normal for how nice it way here yesterday. I was driving around VA yesterday for a pick-n-pull yard run and my oil temp was warmer than yours but I don't have an oil cooler.

Double check the sensor connection. Also, did you get a rein tank or OE? I’ve have a rein tank on my e60 with no problems, but there are many people who complain about the rein e90 version having the same problem as you are experiencing. In those cases, the genuine tank appears to solve the problem.

Thats weird but i think i remember seeing something about the rein tanks as well, which im pretty sure is what i got, ill check the connection and swap the sensor from my old tank and if that doesnt work i might have to get a new OEM tank all together, thank you.

Wait, what?!?!

Mishimoto makes some neat stuff. Particularly the tires. Radiators are nice for the price.

However, If they sell water pumps... would not buy.

Yeah i know the pumps from FCP are the most common/tried and true but i saw that the mishimoto pump had lifetime warranty too and ive had great experience with them on some parts for my old e36, figured why not give it a try.

oK... I thought that was a type-O

Turns out they really do sell water pumps.

Wonder which one they are buying? Probably safe to assume they can't do a rebranded Pierburg for $325

Would you look at that....

Apparently Rock Auto is now selling the Pierburg for $310

I'd swear I paid $600+ for mine 2 years ago.
