I'd like to share some infomation I got from my dealership abd have a question about the M2 allocation in US.

I am currently #4 in my local dealership (north Cal) and the dealer told me they have confirmed that there will be 2 allocation in May.

But (since it's an M car) then, they won't know in advance if there will be allocation in June, July, Aug... etc until further notice. And after getting an allocation, if everything goes well, I still have to wait for 3 months to get the car.

This means, the best possible situation is they got another 2 allocation in June, and I got my car in Sept or Oct this year. But certainly could be later.

This is my first time to purchase a BMW, I'd like to know assuming it's a median BMW dealership, is it likely to get averagely 1 M2 allocation per month? Just not sure about the general market. Please share your experience, thanks!

Is it a high volume dealership (not necessarily size but number of cars they move)?

First, who is giving you the info? Do you know how many they have received so far? They may know some advance detail as to future allocations or they may be just guessing to give you an answer.

If you get an allocation at the end of June, thatbwould put build date around end of July which would teeter between the MY23 and MY24. With all that said, if all goes like clockwork and the way everything stands now, you are probably looking at an October delivery date.

I am too in NorCal and was 4th on wait list. So far my ca dealer said they received 2 allocations already so that means I should be up next if they get another two allocations this month but for sure in May. Been on the waitlist since Oct 2022.

Are they an official "///M Certified Center" ?

The way I understand it is: the more cars a dealer sells, the more M allocations they get. If they are upper tier in sales, and do some other things, they are designated as "M Certified". If they aren't certified, they may be a smaller dealer and not getting a lot of M allocs.

Being M Certified and allocations received do not go hand in hand.

Yeah so basically, it's true that from allocation to pick up needs at least 3 monthes. However I don't know how to figure out if a BMW dealer has high or low sales. Is there any website or official publication that indicate such thing? What I do know is they recently got their SEA car and they know they get 2 allocation in this May.

no, you ask them how many new cars they sell a month on average. If it's less than 100, it's probably a lower volume store. That said, your dealer is just guessing on the allocations they'll get in May, dealers aren't notified in advance of how many allocations of a particular model they will be receiving, or when they will be receiving allocations, so you are getting unreliable info.
