Mirror Alignment When Folded
Is it normal for the passenger mirror to be folded in tighter than the driver’s side? Odd I just noticed this today after 10 months.
While unfolded they appear the same, but you can see from the picture there’s more mirror visible on the passenger side vs. driver’s side. I took care to make sure the iPhone camera lens was centered over the hood emblem in both pics to avoid getting a different angle on one mirror vs. the other. Giving them a mild push/pull while folded shows they’re both snug, and they both have a solid/firm stop when folding-in. Makes me think it’s by design, but curious if others are the same. |

I will check mine, but did you measure, just to be sure it's not a weird angle view of the camera? Though, I totally see what you're talking about in the pic.
If it is asymmetric, I wonder if it's a difference in the base mount and that the passenger side does need to be at a different angle for the driver's view. I'll post my results too...just wondering about any measurements. UPDATE: Yep, the passenger side folds in a bit over 1 inch more than the driver's side mirror. I triple-checked the measurement and it is a full inch difference...5" gap from end of mirror to window on the passenger side compared to 6" on driver's side. I measured the same on each side, at the top of the clear light lens on the mirror case, level and squared to the window. Not absolute precision, but it was a clear difference. I did not notice any detectable difference in the base mount piece. I assume it is normal, or at least not an uncommon problem if it is a problem. I wonder about others, and moreover, why?? I think it’s normal. Mine is the same exact slight asymmetry. I assume it has to do with the degree of angulation of the right hand mirror relative to the left so the driver can see both sides equally from the driver’s side.
