IND | G87 M2 Painted Front Reflector Install Guide
Thankfully the G87 M2 front reflectors don't require much disassembly to swap out so we put together a quick Installation Guide to go with our Painted Front Reflector Sets (Reflector Deletes).
Required Tool:
NOTE: We removed the front wheels for media visibility purposes; this is not required or even recommended. STEP 1: Turn the wheels in to access the front edge of the bumper cover where it meets the fender liner. (NOTE: Wheel removed for media purposes) STEP 2: Locate the 2 fasteners on the bottom corner of the splash panel; use the socket wrench to remove the 10mm bolt and a flat head screwdriver to pry out the push pin. STEP 3: Locate the 3 clips that secure the bumper cover to the inner paneling and pull the bumper cover away from the car to separate. STEP 4: Use a heat gun to soften the adhesive on the OE reflector, be sure to keep it moving to avoid burning the paint. STEP 5: Starting at the top, use your thumbs to press in the reflector until it separates from the bumper cover. Use spreading tool to help separate the adhesive. STEP 6: Pull the reflector out from the bottom; once removed, note if any adhesive didn't come off with the reflector and remove it from the inside edges of the reflector cutout. STEP 7: Peel the tape to expose the adhesive on the painted reflector and reinstall. Be sure to press the bumper cover to close any gaps around the reflector before firmly pressing all around to complete the install. STEP 8: Reinstall the push pin and 10mm bolt on the bottom corner splash panel. STEP 9: Refasten the 3 clips that secure the bumper cover to the inner paneling and installation is complete.

I've done reflector installs many times, it's not hard but does take patience. You need to take your time heating up the reflector before you try to remove it to avoid damaging anything. Don't rush it, slow and steady is the way to go; don't apply too much heat at once. Slowly heat it up and let it soak in to avoid blistering the paint and give it time to sink into the reflector before you start trying to remove it. It will make your life much easier.
P.S. Whomever wrote these directions gets a big thumbs up. Don't know why, but it's rare to get such thorough step by step directions with pictures. These directions and great! |

I'll probably just have my PPF guy do this while he has it, since I don't have my car yet, so I'll point him to the thread.

BMW uses lug bolts which means once you remove them the wheel will be hanging on the hub lip which only protrudes 1/4" out. The wheel will fall off the thin lip if you don't hold them. What you see here are just wheel pins that you screw in before removing all the lug bolts. They allow you to easily remove a wheel and put it back on. People that don't use them have a hard time lining up the lug bolts and it's also very easy for the wheel to slip off and land onto the dust shield, rotors and even calipers damaging the inside of the wheel barrel and chipping paint on your calipers.
