Now the wait game starts!

Hey guys,

Yesterday out of the blue my CA calls me and says he has an allocation open on a M2 if I would be interested. So being my impulse self I said why not. This will be my first mini M in a long time. My daily right now is a F93 M8. So I am very excited to switch off and get into something small and nimble. I just hope this car lives up to my expectations of it since I have been hearing some negative feedback on some reviews about the weight of the vehicle. But either way I am super excited to see what this car has to offer and so now starts the wait game!!

Looks good.

Did you get any indication of how long it would take to get the car?

Might I also ask did the dealer want any ADM or other extra charges?

Hey,

Thank you!

No I am very lucky no dealer mark up. They are giving me the vehicle at msrp. My CA projects to see the vehicle on the ground mid June but I am very optimistic on that ETA. Since last year when I ordered my M8 it took an additional 3 months more then he projected. But who knows I’m hoping things got better then last year!

A June ETA is not bad. The flip side is based on what I've been told -- all informally though -- I think June is a bit optimistic. But I would love to be wrong.

For what it's worth, most reviews have said the weight is a non-issue, and to expect a more fun M4 rather than a more fun F87 M2. I'll know more once I've taken it for a spin in a couple of weeks.

It's lighter than advertised!

Here's zero21 's weight. 70 lbs lighter than the "official" BMW #s.

Add a lithium battery and you're down to 3,700 lbs!

This was with the 827M forged wheels, and optional carbon roof. Just want to clarify, this was not a totally "stock" weight.

I don't think June is too optimistic, he's already in status "scheduled for production". This wasn't a fresh allocation, someone most likely backed out after getting a production number. This guy got a huge head start. Congrats.

My car finished production on 4/13. It got off the boat in NY yesterday. Or maybe today. Should be at my dealer in CT this week. So let's call it 5/25. That should help with your timeline prognostications. Of course, your build might further dictate the timeline.

You are at the mercy of the trucking system. Trucks are not always immediately available. It could delay departure by a few dats. Hope for this week but don't be upset or surprised if its next week.

Ya I am quite familiar with this process. Sometimes it goes quickly, like last summer, when I got my X7 literally 1 day after it hit the port. The dealer didn't even know it was coming that day. I'm expecting this will go a bit slower as a few goodies are going on at the port. I've got kid college stuff over the next week so I'm not around anyway. It gets here when it gets here.

I think it's fair to say around 6 weeks from build completion to a dealer on the east coast is a good reference point for others waiting and watching the sea for their literal ship to come in.

The X models go from South Carolina to Connecticut via ship?

That's great news. Looks very nice!

Ended up buying one off the show room floor April 14, well, I completed buying one April 14 one that I had negotiated to buy back in mid March.

Same color with the black leather interior, 6-speed manual, carbon fiber roof.

Have over 2K miles on my car so far and have enjoyed every mile. You are going to love the car.
