Display Screen Material - glass or plastic?

Is that huge screen glass or plastic? If plastic, I’m concerned how you keep it from being scratched when cleaning it. Or if there’s a screen protector for it lol, hopefully one that doesn’t show fingerprints easily lol.

Probably plastic. I intend on never using it as a touch screen, but in case I do, I'm installing one of these.

I have used it as a touch screen a number of times (my m240) with no issues whatsoever.

Yeah I should clarify I just hate touch screens lol

Not that there would be anything wrong with it.

I love my Mazda CX 50 because I never have to use it as a touch screen.

The M2 is so in depth, though, that I'm probably going to eventually use the touch vice controller but I'm going to give it a college try to not touch it.

Great find! Didn't even consider this. I hope it's not necessary to touch it too much. I'm glad we still have the dial for now.

BMW reps have said that it's a goal to never NEED to use the touch screen, you can do everything using voice command or the dial.

I use the touch screen a lot. I do not like the idrive controller.

I had the same goal but failed. The way the screen is laid out lends itself to touching it at times…

My screen protector is arriving this week but not to protect from touch as I don’t think touching it damages it, but cleaning will.

Excellent. Vice the climate. I have yet to find a way to change the temperature without touching EXCEPT with voice. I have figured out how to speak to my car about the HVAC, even completely turning it off, so maybe that's what I'll do. I speak to her in her name, "Hello Miranda."

I know naming a car is gooberish, but there it is.

Anyway, I also have the shortcuts set up so I just have to tap up on the controller to get to my most used apps.

On a side note, after initially "liking" the HUD because of how cool it was compared to the one in my Mazda, I have turned it off. It eventually more annoyed me than anything, just like in my Mazda, so I'm happy we can turn it off. In my Mazda, I cannot. I sit as low as I can in the car and there's little difference between the HUD and dash to make having the HUD in my line of site worthwhile. I found myself going to the dash anyway. Besides, the dash shift lights are more F1 style so there's that.

Did you buy it yet? If not, please post your experience for everyone else. I plan on controlling the car with the voice and dial, but at some point I'm sure I'm going to have to touch the screen. The HVAC controls look specially moronic on iDrive 8.

No my PPF installer surprised me with PPFing it. I like it!

FYI, voice does everything I need with HVAC without touching the screen.
