V Brace Cover install - quick guide

I bought these red Vbrace covers way back in Jan of 2022 https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256803482223279.html

Looking under the hood it seemed way to complicated especially in NJ winter.

I eventually installed https://autotecknic.com/products/aut...d-g42-2-series but when I had all the parts out for that I still couldn't see into the area of the v-braces

https://g87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1965577

This thread finally showed me what needed to be done and since it was a nice day out I decided to tackle it.

First you need to remove the plastic cover that the seal sits on. Pull up on the seal and move it towards the engine out of the way. Use a trim tool to lift up the 4 push in retainers then pull up the their base

Once those are removed you need a trim tool to remove the plastic section. You can see the 3 sections that all have 2 tabs. A little wiggling and a trim tool pops these out.

Now onto the main part

You need a t30
There are
  • 8 black bumper bolts with washers (red)
  • 4 black bolts with yellow markings on the v brace guard (purple)
  • 3 silver v brace guard bolts (yellow)

Remove all the above bolts and put them aside. I circled them in the first image

Slide the bumper out from under the silver clips circled in green. You just need to push it towards the front of the car and they slip right out.

Once you work out the v brace cover take a rag and give the braces a wipe.

The v braces are longer than what I ordered so I used a hacksaw to remove about 3.5" you could probably take up to 4" off

Starting at the farthest point I just apply pressure and "snapped" them on

Now putting it back together you do the reverse. I got the v-brace guard back into place then clip the bumper into it. I then put the silver bolts (yellow in pic) and black v guard bolts (purple in pic) back in. After they were all by hand in I started putting the bumper bolts back in (red in pic)

Once all the bumper bolts were seated I snugged down the silver and black bolts that hold the v brace guard into place

I closed the hood. This allowed me to push the bumper forward and get good spacing back between the hood and bumper. The clips held it in place pretty well.

I tighten the bumper bolts as they lined up

I repeated this 2 more times just to make sure the lines were all good.

Snapped the plastic seal cover back on and put the retaining clips back in. Get the car nice and hot and see the results

Awesome! Looks great. Did you use the same snap on style and cut them down? Or a wrap?

Yep, snap ons. Got them on ebay. Had to cut about an inch and a half off of each.
