Getting my new 24' M4 Comp xDrive Friday
Hello All,
My new m4 Comp is coming this Friday and I was told to change the tires as soon as I get it. Does anyone know why that is and any suggestions for what kind of tires to put on it? Thank you! |

I think changing the tires just for the sake of changing the tires may be a little overkill. Especially if you are referring to changing them out because you got the pirellis instead of the Michelins. Both are great tires and I would run whatever tires the car comes with unless there’s another reason you’re being told to switch them.

You do not need new tires.
All M3/M4 comes with either Pirelli Pzero or michelin PS4S. It is 50/50 and you nor the dealer or anyone else has any effect on what tire it comes with. The P-Zero's are considered to be much worse than the PS4S, thats why you may have heard your friend say this. I've driven on tons of different tires, race compounds to all season. Yes the pzeros are worse, but it is not that much different to where you want to spend 2k swapping tires on day one. Have fun with the car and replace them with the michelins once the original pzeros are worn. |

You either get p zeros or ps4s and yes the p zeros are not as great but you won’t really feel the difference unless you’re pushing hard. If you end up getting them just keep it until you need to change. No reason to spend money on tires right out of the gate.

Concur with others, definitely do not change the tires from the get go. Drive them, break your car in! If you feel after a few thousand miles that your tires can't handle your driving style then maybe change them? I doubt you'll need/want to though. |
