Mileage on Delivery
Hi,
Took delivery of a 6 spd G87 (HEA) a couple weeks ago. Was surprised that the vehicle arrived at the dealership with 46 kilometers on it. Previous vehicles I have purchased new have always been at 15 km or less. Am curious as to how many miles were on recently delivered HEA's? I am located in southern Ontario (purchased at Budd's Hamilton). Not sure if that might have something to do with it as the vehicles are railed to Concord. It was dropped off by Hansen's but who knows what goes on at the rail yards? Thanks for the input! |

Same here in Ontario. Car can't be sold as "new" with more than 90k so that's what they put on the invoice.
My dealer records the mileage at PDI as soon as they receive the car. Mine was at 46k when it arrived. Would love to see what others in Ontario had on their vehicles at delivery. |

If it wasn't sold before getting there. it is/has been used as a demo. Great way for contemplating buyers to do a test drive.

My CA was told the HEA cars were used for emissions (this explains the mileage).
My non-HEA custom order had 12 miles, FYI.

Our HEA had 49 miles right off the truck. This seems to be a theme. I wouldn't think too much of it.

My M2 was delivered to me with 17 miles.
While it was at the dealer there were no test drives other than the tech who did the PDI and as is SOP (I'm told) drove the car about 1/2 mile. Even when I showed up to finish buying the car no test drive until after I had signed something that I was buying the car would buy the car. Got to drive the car to the nearby gas station and back with the salesman who filled the car's fuel tank. Drove it about a mile round trip. The word is the cars can and almost invariably do get driven after leaving the assembly line. There is some kind of test track at the factory. One reason offered to me was to adjust the suspension. As some have pointed out the suspension has no adjustments. Good point. And alignment is taken care of on an alignment rack during the assembly process. But if not for suspension there are still good and legitimate reasons to test drive the car. The car and the engine are fitted with a myriad of sensors and complex systems which depend upon the sensors. Believe the vehicle would be driven enough to have some level of confidence the sensors were working properly. And driven with some test device connected to the car to monitor the various sensors and the systems they support. Perhaps driven enough to ensure all the OBD2 emissions related readiness monitors are set to complete. Also, I was told that sometimes a car manifests an issue during this test drive. If it can't be resolved in the time allotted while the car is at the factory this is noted on the car's paperwork and after it reaches the destination port can be driven some more at or near the processing facility. So the mileage from car to car can vary depending on how much time on a test track it spent to ensure it obtained some suitable level of operation. Last but not least some people have reported being allowed to test drive a car. So of course if the dealer allows test drives this can have more miles on a car. |

Sales manager at the dealer where I bought my M2 told me the test drive at the end of the PDI is short something less than a mile. Given how rough the road is that's equivalent to driving the car over the Dakar rally course...
