G87 vs Empty Mountain Roads

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
The car has still not hit 1200 miles and had the break in service, but I was able to hit some mountain roads and push it a little bit!

The way this car handles is insane and hands down better than my G80.

Excited to have the break in service done and start doing some performance mods!

Enjoy.

Looks like a blast. I can only dream of roads like that here.

I’ve driven a lot of really expensive cars up this mountain, the M2 out performed them by a long shot.

Wow that's some heavy praise.

That's what I have been saying. Better grip, better handling. You need to drive the car and push it

Mt Lemmon? I used to ride sportbikes on that road all the time. It's a very high speed road and you can get into a good rhythm. I just had to watch out for bicyclist and sometimes the police would heavily patrol the area if there had been a recent crash or complaints from the residents that live on the mountain.

Yes sir! It’s such a fun drive but you for sure have to go at the right time of day and with a radar detector. If not, you’ll get stuck behind a snow bird going 5 under the speed limit that won’t let you pass.

Not to be the downer, but it... shouldn't? Slightly better makes sense, but I wouldn't expect it to be a lot better.

The G87 saga is turning out to have lots of little surprises.

I just think the combo of the shorter wheel base and rear wheel drive makes for a better driving experience.

I would agree with you there. I think I was just expecting it to more like the driving experience in the G80.

Also, I know you've taken some flak, but thanks for putting this content out there. We are really lacking street level driving examples right now, this helps a lot.

You have to be the only one in that city with a new M2. I can't imagine Tucson getting a lot of allocations.

Take it up to Mt. Lemmon!

Yeah it’s the first one here to my knowledge.

Mt. Lemmon is where I was at in this video 😎

Ahhh of course it was! I haven't been back since 2013! I actually moved to Cali in 1988 with my family. My brother still lives in Tucson.

Oh wow! Well I’m sure it’s changed drastically since you’ve been here!

I actually did the opposite and moved from Orange County to AZ back in 2001

I’m up in Gilbert, I’ll need to hit Hwy 79 through Oracle and come check it out! BTW, did you run the power chord for your radar detector? I’d like to see how you did it.

This looks good, sometimes you had a bit of understeer or no? In my G80cx I struggled some with that on downhills especially with the weight pushing me, on uphills if conditions were right the car had tremendous grip but the long wheelbase was lacking agility. Post another video after break-in!

I will absolutely post another video after break in and with better camera positioning. It’s rather sketchy to drive with a GoPro right in front of your face. A lot of the left hand turns were almost completely blind.

But to your point, my G80cx for sure has more under steer. I’m also not a professional driver by any stretch of the imagination 😂 I do however plan on taking this car to the track often to become a better driver!

Man I tried to record the install video for the mirror tap kit, but it was nearly impossible because of lighting and you really need two hands.

I did take some photos, but it’s still a bit hard to see.

Here’s the kit I use https://amzn.to/3VH3Qj9

Hope that helps man, feel free to shoot me a message and I’ll help ya further if you need it.
